Book of the Dead
Tumblr media
Genre: The Mummy AU
Pairing: Junmyeon x Reader
Summary: After traveling to the fabled city of Hamunaptra, you read from the Book of the Dead and accidentally resurrect an ancient mummy with extraordinary powers and quest for revenge. The only thing to do now is try and convince your less-than-traditional guide to help you save the world.
Part 1 I Part 2
**
You ran up the smooth stone steps as quickly as your night dress would allow. If only you had had the time to change into something a bit more practical. Unfortunately, the immortal, god-like mummy that was currently lighting the city of Cairo up with the ten plagues of Egypt was exactly willing to pause for you to put on a different outfit.
“Run this by me one more time?” Baekhyun huffed a few stairs behind.
Rolling your eyes, you said again, “We’re going to read the stone with the inscription of the location of the book of the living. Once I translate its location, we’ll head back to Hamunaptra, retrieve it, and send Mr. Bones back to the underworld.”
“You really need to work on the nicknames,” Junmyeon grumbled as he placed a hand on your lower back to urge you upwards at a faster pace.
“Sorry that my sarcastic wit doesn’t work best under pressure.”
“Trust me, it hasn’t been working with or without the pressure.”
You shot the soldier a dirty look, which only led to you tripping over your own feet. Junmyeon caught you before your knees could meet the edge of the last step. Looking up at him, you opened your mouth, whether to say thank you or to release another sharp remark, you weren’t sure. Those stupid brown eyes were scrambling the thought pathways in your brain. But thankfully, one thing was able to connect and bring back your focus.
“The stone!”
A large black stone taller than you and wider than your forearm sat to the right of the staircase, a block of polished wood at the base keeping it upright and away from the wall. You ripped out of Junmyeon’s grasp and scrambled for the stone. Your eyes scanned the hieroglyphics. A few feet away, Baekhyun was half bent over in an effort to regulate his breathing.
“Can you do that a little quieter?” you gritted between your teeth as your fingers slid over the etched surface of the stone.
“It wasn’t that many stairs,” Sehun said.
“Sorry, not all of us are as athletic as the muscled up soldiers over here.” Baekhyun hooked a thumb towards Junmyeon, who was hardly paying attention as he stared out the open balcony. Baekhyun and Sehun joined him, the former then gulped. “You might want to hurry up over there.”
“Patience is a virtue,” you sang.
“Not right now it isn’t,” Junmyeon mumbled grimly.
That was when you heard it.
Hundreds of voices chanting in unison.
“Imhotep. Imhotep. Imhotep. Imhotep.” Over and over in monotone sounds, growing closer and louder.
Oh, shit.
“I hate to agree, but yes, faster would be better,” Professor Bey urged.
His power was growing. Fast. You buckled down, translating the pictures into the ancient language and then again into your own tongue.
“They’ve become his slaves,” Ardeth said with more morbidness than you previously thought possible.
“A side effect of the boils and sores, I’m sure,” Baekhyun said, not helping. Another plague down. The final one, if your counting was correct.
Block them out. You needed to block all of them out. “Alright, so according to the Bembridge scholars, the gold book of Amun-Ra is located in the statue of Anubis.”
“But we found the black book there instead,” said one of the Americans.
Baekhyun moved to your side. “So, they were wrong?”
“Obviously.” Arrogant men who thought you didn’t have enough experience to join their society. “They mixed up where they were buried. So if that was where the black book was located….”
A crash. The front doors of the museum must have been breached.
“I got it! The golden book is located inside the statue of Horus!” You slapped the rock with your hand in victory. “Take that, Bembridge bastards!”
“Alright then, let’s run!” Baekhyun took your hand and hurried you down the hall while the others stayed close at your heels. Down the stairs and through a back corridor, you were able to make it to the car while avoiding the mind controlled citizens. Safety be damned, you all piled on one another into the topless car as Baekhyun turned over the engine and gunned it. Hordes of the poor men chasing you poured out of the doors of the museum and managed to keep up with the four wheeled vehicle that now raced through the dirt streets in the dark. Junmyeon remained on the trunk of the car, reloading his gun and punching anyone who was able to get close enough.
“Those are innocent people!” you yelled over all the noise.
“Yeah, well, right now, it’s us or them!” Junmyeon kicked one off but lost his balance in the meantime. He nearly fell into the crowd before you were able to grab his arm and yank him down. “Thanks,” he muttered mere inches from your face before clearing his throat and righting himself. On his other side, Sehun was fighting along with Ardeth to keep you all from being overrun. Imhotep must have been able to give the controlled men advanced abilities. An unfortunate event.
But right when you thought that you might be able to get away, several men climbed onto one of the Americans and they all fell from the car, lost in the crowd. Without thinking, the other yelled and then jumped after his friend. And then he was gone, too.
“Crap.”
“Rest in peace, old chaps,” Baekhyun murmured, looking over his shoulder. And then crashed the car.
“Baekhyun!” you shouted angrily. Junmyeon hoisted you out of the car, not wasting a moment, but the six of you were trapped. The mind controlled men were coming at you from all three streets. You were blocked in against one of the walls of the city.
“It's the creature,” Professor Bey whispered. You frowned, unable to see past the ones that surrounded the group. Then you saw him.
Imhotep.
“He’s fully regenerated.”
Not a single spec of mummified skin remained. He’d gotten to the Americans.
Stepping closer as the crowd pushed in, he started speaking in the ancient language, lapdog Beni right behind.
“Come with me, my princess,” Beni translated with a false sense of superiority. “It is time to make you mine. Forever.”
You scoffed. “For all eternity. Idiot.”
Imhotep spoke again, this time with his hand outstretched.
“Take my hand and I shall spare your friends.”
You looked around for any chance of escape. There was none. “Just wonderful.” You turned to Junmyeon, who was slowly putting himself between you and the mummy. “Any good ideas?”
His face was twisted and his eyes darted from left to right. “I’m thinking. I’m thinking.”
“Good. Keep thinking and think of something fast. Because if he turns me into a mummy, you’re the first one I’m coming after.”
Junmyeon’s eyes snapped to you, wide with shock. “No!” But you were out of arm’s reach before he could stop you. He pulled a gun and pointed it at Imhotep, ready to fire. Sehun and Ardeth both managed to stop him.
“He has to take me to Hamunaptra,” you explained. “In order to perform the ritual.” With your eyes, you tried to add in the rest. Follow us there, get the book, and I’ll read it.
“She’s got a point,” Sehun said. “If we live today, we can fight tomorrow.”
Junmyeon hesitated, then lowered his gun. You held his gaze, trying to let him know silently what you were feeling in this moment. That you were glad to have met him. And you wished the two of you had more time.
“We’ll see each other again,” he promised.
With an arm around your shoulders, Imhotep led you away. The sound of Junmyeon saying your name reached your ears and you almost ran back to him.
“Hey, that’s mine!” Baekhyun yelled. Running up next to you, Beni tossed the octagonal key to the books in the air. Well, that wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
Gripping your arm tighter, Imhotep gave out one final order. “Kill them all!”
“No!” You fought and kicked and tugged to get away. “Let go of me! Junmyeon! Baekhyun!” It was no use. As you looked back behind you, all you could see was the crowd closing in on them.
**
You traveled for what felt like hours in the sandstorm of Imhotep. When you were finally deposited onto the sand, rolling in it from the momentum and getting it everywhere, you managed to open your eyes and see where he had decided to stop. You were right outside of the city of the dead. You were back.
A loud buzzing noise caught your attention. Looking up into the sky, you saw an old fashioned pedal plane carrying more people than it was built for. You smile. “Mr. Kim.”
After walking a few paces ahead, Imhotep raised his arms and called up a sandstorm so large, it blocked out the sky. Forming into a face, it ruched at the tiny plane. And then the storm swallowed it whole.
“No!”
The sandstorm dissipated and the plane was no longer visible. Imhotep smirked then walked towards the city. You had no choice but to follow.
You were going to die.
That didn’t stop you from following the mummy down into the depths of the temple, your glare switching from Imhotep’s back to Beni, who walked beside you.
“Your face will stay like that,” Beni warned. How childish.
“And nasty little boys like yourself always get their comeuppance,” you shot back.
Beni stopped in his tracks. “They do?”
You smirked. How stupid. You did believe that he would get his own form of punishment for helping the ancient priest - you just hoped that it was sooner rather than later.
Down in the main chamber of the temple, a loud noise stopped Imhotep mid chant. Taking one of the sacred jars, he emptied the ash-like substance into his hand and then blew on it, letting the particles drift through the air. Then he spoke out a spell and mummified bodies ripped themselves free from their walled-in prisons, leaving behind deep human-shaped impressions among the hieroglyphics.
“Kill them and wake the others,” Imhotep ordered. Turning back to you and Beni, he nodded at the latter, who then forced you down onto the stone slab next to a pit that at first you thought was water, but the liquid was too thick and too black, like ink. You were too focused on the substance to notice Imhotep’s hand coming near your face. He spoke a single word and your vision went black.
It could have only been a minute that you were out, but it was enough time for your wrists and ankles to be tied down and the sacred jars to be lined up against your side.  Seeing a strange lump out of the corner of your left eye, you turned.
Then screamed.
The mummified body of who could only have been Anck-Su-Namun was lying right next to you, ready to be revived. You fought and tugged at your restraints, desperate to get away, to put distance between you and the woman who killed the pharaoh. One by one, the resurrected priests circled the slab, fell to their knees, and began chanting as they bowed. Imhotep stepped up, the black book in his hands. He caressed the side of the mummy’s face lovingly. Despite the reality of the situation, a small part of you couldn’t help but be in awe of his devotion. All of this, for his love.
That didn’t mean you wanted to help.
“Junmyeon! Baekhyun! Sehun!” One of them. Any of them! Please, just let one of them get in here with the book!
From the pit, the inky substance rose, formless, shapeless as it drifted through the air, over you and settled into the body. Imhotep finished the enchantment and the mummy came to life with a shrieking gasp. It turned and looked at you with knowing eyes. The scream of pure terror was ripped from your throat.
No, no, no, no!
Appearing on the other side of you, Imhotep said one last time that with your death, Anck-Su-Namun would live. He raised a dagger with both hands and let it hover over your heart for just a beat.
“I found the book of Amun-Ra! I found it, cousin!”
Standing at the top of the large stone staircase, Baekhyun waved a giant book of gold over his head, the proudest grin shining from his face, visible even from this distance.
Imhotep hesitated, lowering the dagger.
“Fantastic, now shut up and help me off of here!” you shouted back. “You have to open the book! Open it!”
Like in a trance, Imhotep walked around the slab, placing the dagger down next to Anck-Su-Namun, and continued towards the stairs.
“I can’t open it! It needs the key!”
“His robes!” You motioned towards Imhotep with your head. “It’s in his robes!”
With Imhotep coming closer, Baekhyun took off down the hallway that had led him here. Out of the shadows the opposite way, Junmyeon jumped out, swinging a large golden sword at the priests. Sehun wasn’t far behind with a sword of his own. Toegher, the two of them cut the mummies into pieces. With everyone distracted, you worked at the ropes around your wrists that had loosened in your many struggles, freeing the right one first and then moving onto your ankles. Only the left wrist was left to be freed, but this one was choosing to be difficult.
“Are you alright?” Junmyeon asked as he took down another priest.
“For the most part,” you answered, jangling your hand. Junmyeon lifted the sword to cut it free but suddenly fell from view. The upper bodies of the priests had grabbed hold of him and were holding him down so another could get close enough to drop the giant rock it was carrying onto his head. “Junmyeon!”
Junmyeon struggled to reach the sword he had dropped. Sehun was too busy with his own fight to notice his cousin needed help. You tried for the weapon yourself but it was too far out of reach. A disembodied hand was crawling with its fingers across the floor. When it wrapped its palm around the hilt of the sword, Junmyeon managed to grab the arm and swing at the mummy holding the stone, taking its legs out from under it. It fell backwards, squishing itself comically. He took care of the others and freed himself. He cut the bindings from your wrist and helped you off the slab. “Better late than never, right?”
“We’ll reevaluate that later.”
Baekhyun emerged from a side corridor. Oh, thank goodness. As if he were reading the Sunday paper, he studied the front of the book. “Cousin, I found an inscription here. Rash- Rasheem oola… kashka!”
A pair of doors burst open and out marched mummified soldiers with shields and spears.
“Oh, wonderful.” At least you weren’t the only one who mucked up by reading out loud.
Two by two, they came out until there were ten now facing you, Junmyeon, and Sehun.
“This just keeps getting better and better,” Sehun muttered angrily.
“Baekhyun, do something,” you begged.
“Me?” Baekhyun squeaked as he backed up against a pillar.
“Yes, you! You raised them! You can control them!”
“You’re joking, right?”
The soldiers marched on, coming in closer. You weren’t armed and you doubted Junmyeon and Sehun could hold all of them off. “Finish the inscription on the cover, you idiot!”
“Oh! Right!” Baekhyun scrambled to hide behind the pillar.
Focused on the enemy in front of you, the one that had just been resurrected had been left forgotten.
Anck-Su-Namun snatched you away from behind just as the mummified soldiers pounced. You managed to get out of her grip and were now playing a rather unfun game of tag while she chased you with the ceremonial dagger, keen on killing you herself so she could be fully revived.
“Baekhyun, hurry up, please!”
“I can’t figure out this last symbol!”
“What does it look like!” You ran around the pillars and figures, lucky that you still had all of your ligaments to move quickly with. But Anck-Su-Namun had caught on and cut you off from around a corner, clutching your neck as you fought to keep the dagger away from your heart.
“Its… its, uh… a bird!” Baekhyun started flapping an arm in a wing-like motion. “No! A stork!”
You pushed the air past your throat to give him the answer. “Ahmenophus!”
“Ah! That makes sense!” He read over the sentence again before yelling, “Hootash im ahmenophus!”
With a kick to her brittle rips, you managed to break free from Anck-Su-Namun right as the mummy soldiers froze. Right on time, too, as it seemed both Junmyeon and Sehun were about to be impaled. You ran to Baekhyuun and ripped the book out of his hands. “Give that to me!” Turning back to the one who had tried to kill you, you said, “Fa-kooshka, Anck-Su-Namum!”
The soldiers didn’t move as Anck-Su-Namun stalked closer.
“Oh, fine!” You motioned for Baekhyun, who very smugly repeated the order. The soldiers backed off Junmyeon and Sehun, going for their new prey as Imhotep tried to stop them with his own shouting. It didn’t work. He watched in horror as, for the second time, his love was taken from him. All you saw was the soldiers surrounding her, then stabbing. She shrieked in pain and then was once again… silent
Imhotep roared in anger. He swept up sand as he turned on you and Baekhyun, vowing death to you both. Junmyeon ran up from behind and cut off one of his arms, getting his attention instead. The robes slipped from Imhotep’s body as he picked up the severed arm and reattached it, stepping determinedly in Junmyeon’s direction.
The robes.
The key!
You hurried forward, eyes never leaving Imhotep in case he remembered what he had left behind. It took a moment of searching the folds of black, tattered fabric, but eventually you found the key. “Keep him busy!” you told Junmyeon.
“Yeah, no problem,” was grunted back to you.
Inserting the key, you twisted it three times until the claws clicked open. You flipped through the heavy slabs, eyes constantly on the search for the right inscription. There was so much here. So much knowledge, so much history, you were getting distracted.
Save Junmyeon! You told yourself. Stay focused and save Junmyeon!
“Hurry!” Baekhyun urged.
You growled back, “You’re not helping!”
Imhotep now had Junmyeon by the throat, feet off the ground and face turning purple. You were running out of time!
There! “I have it! Kadeesh mal! Kadeesh mal! Pared oos! Pared oos!”
A wind from nowhere kicked up through the air. From the top of the staircase, a ghostly horse-drawn carriage came sailing in, down the stairs and straight for him.
Horrified and knowing exactly what was headed his way, Imhotep dropped Junmyeon and tried to run. But the carriage was faster.
It barreled through him, taking with it a translucent outline of himself, rounding the room before trotting back up the staircase and through the purplish wormhole that it had come from. Imhotep chased after it as if he could steal what was stolen from him back. But that was impossible.
Junmyeon picked up his dropped sword and scrambled to you, weapon high for the next round of the fight. “I thought you said that would kill him.”
Imhotep stomped forward, eyes fixed on your group. So focused on his target that he never saw Sehun come in from behind and stab his own sword through Imhotep’s back.
 You smirked. “He’s mortal now.”
He stared down at the blade that was protruding from his stomach. Staggering, his eyes were round from shock, little by little the light of life fading. His feet shuffled closer to the pit’s edge until he finally fell in and sunk beneath the surface. As he faded from view, his skin disintegrated until he was back in the form that you first found him. Words echoed around as he gave one last message. Handing the book back to Baekhyun, you translated it for the others.
“Death… is only the beginning.”
“Thank god that’s over,” Baekhyun sighed.
You squeezed his shoulder, thankful to whomever that he was alive. That you all were. “We should get out of here.”
“Where’s Beni?” Sehun asked as he surveyed the room. Oh, right. You’d nearly forgotten about him.
“Probably halfway back to Cairo with a bag full of gold,” Junmyeon said bitterly.
Then, suddenly, the walls began to tremble, sand fell in falls from the ceiling
“Time to go!” Junmyeon grabbed your hand and headed for the exit. Baekhyun, who was leading in front, slipped on a pile of sand as he crossed one of the bridges. You watched in horror as the book flew from his hands and into the water, sinking beyond retrieval.
“You lost the book! How could you lose the book!”
“Oh, come on!” All three yelled at you. Nothing could be done. The Book of Amun-Ra was lost. You’d cry about it later.
Navigating the halls, sand and walls were falling all around you, seeking to trap you in. Junmyeon led the group through a giant room filled with gold. Baekhyun whimpered at all the treasure he was able to take with him, but at least he kept running.
“Wait for me! Wait for me!”
As you left the hall of gold, you turned to see Beni running after you. The ceiling above was slowly lowering. If he didn’t pick it up, he’d be trapped forever. A small opening barely big enough for a human was starting to sink beneath the floor. Baekhyun made it through. Sehun made it through. You made it through.
Junmyeon came in last, sliding across the sand and then flipping over, his hand reaching out towards Beni, who was still a good ten or fifteen feet away. “Come on, come on, come on!” Hate him or not, Junmyeon would try to help. But Beni didn’t make it and the opening disappeared. Junmyeon sighed. Then shrugged. “Bye-bye, Beni.”
He jumped up to his feet and rejoined the group.
Finally outside, the columns and temples were also falling, causing you all to zig-zag all around the city as it crumbled to the ground. The sand beneath your feet shook. You made it out of the city’s boundary. When you were far enough out of the blast zone, you stopped and watched as what was once a great archeological find sink into the sand, never to be seen again.
Baekhyun screamed out of nowhere. You panicked, thinking Imhotep wasn’t truly dead. But then you saw the shadow. And then the camel. And then the man riding it.
“Ardeth!” You were so happy to see him alive! You had been so worried about getting out yourself, you hadn’t been able to ask the others what had happened to him.
“Thank you for that heart attack,” Baekhyun scolded as he rubbed his chest. He would be fine. If the wine and women hadn’t killed him yet, you were sure he would live through this.
Ardeth bowed his head. “From me and my people, you have earned our respect and gratitude.”
Baekhyun chuckled, waving it off with false modesty. “Well… it was nothing.”
“Speak for yourself,” Sehun muttered as he spat dirt from his mouth.
Ardeth grinned then clicked his tongue to urge the camel on.
Shaking his head, Baekhyun turned back to the flat surface that used to be Hamunaptra. “Wonderful. We go home empty-handed. Again.”
Junmyeon looked down at you and with the softest expression, disagreed. “I wouldn’t say that.”
Heat bloomed on your cheeks as his meaning sunk in. Sehun understood as well, rolling his eyes and turning away. Cupping your jaw with his fingers, Junmyeon leaned in and kissed you deeply, pulling you in closer.
Yes, he was right. You were truly walking away with the adventure of a lifetime.

Sehun can hear Minseok and Baekhyun asking rapid fire questions behind him, but he’s too busy seeing red to focus on them. He follows behind Johnny almost uncomfortably closely, ensuring that the younger boy is in fact leading them in the right direction and not trying to pull at fast one on him.
Sehun swears on every deity above him that he’ll knock out Jongdae if even half of what Johnny has said so far is true. He couldn’t care less about Minseok reasoning with him to slow down or Chungha telling him to calm down. He’d had it up to here with the games.
It was almost a decade in the making anyway; he’d be the one to knock the lights out of those two one way or another. He doesn’t care to be rational or relax.
Jongdae and Jongin not only had no considerations for your feelings or dignity as a person, but for Kyungsoo’s either—or rather, Baekhyun’s, kinda—either. They’re willing to cross a line—and for what, Sehun’s not really sure. To make a point? Get validation? Piss him off?
At this point, it didn’t matter. Sehun was relishing in just the mere thought of seeing Jongin’s stupid surprised face when he walks in the room. So, imagine his disappointment, when he doesn’t get to see the idiots’ stunned expressions; because you seem to have beaten him to the punch.
“—Are you out of your mind? Jongdae, I’d expect this shit from you, but—”
“[Y/N]?” Sehun blinks, taking in the scene in front of him: your finger pointed at a very nervous looking Jongin, whilst a panicked Jaehyun sunk behind his laptop screen, with Jongdae leaning against a desk—looking far too nonchalant for Sehun’s taste—and Kyungsoo standing just a bit behind you, “Kyungsoo?”
“Sehun?” you question, eyes widening as you look past him to see possibly every person you know at the university filing into the room, all with similar murderous expressions on their faces, “Chung—Minseok? Baekh—what—”
“What are you doing here?” The two of you ask at the same time.
“I—Johnny messaged me,” you explain briefly, “I didn’t believe it, but then I caught Jongin walking into the building, so I followed him.”
Sehun narrows his eyes. “Johnny messaged me too,” he explains, stepping forward and in Jongdae’s direction.
“What a lovely family reunion,” Jongdae sniggers, looking over Sehun’s shoulder, “Junmyeon, long time no see, buddy. You look well.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Sehun growls, stepping directly into Jongdae’s line of sight.
“You all need to relax,” Jongdae lolls, crossing one leg over the other and resting his palms on the desk, “I tried explaining that was just a prank, her little boyfriend over there wasn’t gonna get hurt or anything.”
Jongdae nudges his head in Kyungsoo’s direction, whose eyes are now wider than Sehun has ever seen them before. He looks briefly to you, watches as your eyebrows crinkle together.
“Boyfriend—are you talking about Kyungsoo?” you ask Jongdae, then snap your head towards Jongin, “Is that what this whole thing is about? You think we’re together so you were gonna try and publicly humiliate him?”
Sehun might not have gotten to see Jongdae’s surprised face when he walked in the room, but he thinks seeing the shorter boy’s eyes go wide with horror at your words is even better.
“You’re not—?” Jongin stutters, gesturing towards you and Kyungsoo.
“No we’re not!” you screech, turning swiftly to Kyungsoo, “No offense or anything.”
Kyungsoo shrugs, “None taken.”
“He’s not my boyfriend, you imbecile. I don’t have a boyf—well, I kinda—it’s none of your business, anyway!” You shout, stomping your foot.
“Then—who—but we saw you!” Jongdae counters. Sehun takes a deep breath, counts to three in his head, remembers that murder is a crime.
“It’s called having a friend, you should try it sometime,” Sehun says, in lieu of breaking his jaw.
“[Y/N], look, I—I’m sorry, we—I didn’t know,” Jongin apologizes hurriedly, taking a step forwards towards you. A little too close for Sehun’s comfort; too close for Chanyeol’s too, by the way he pushes forward towards him. “We’ll go and change everything back right now, I swear—”
“That’s not the fucking point!” you cut him off, making him pause in his place, and effectively stopping Chanyeol’s strides too.
“First of all, I don’t know what or how you’d have been changing anything. Yeah, we send them to the TA’s, but then the head TA compiles them into one PDF for the showcase,” you explain frustratedly, “So nothing you changed would have shown up anyway. Not to mention we submit the final versions 24 hours beforehand. It’s protocol to make sure students don’t change anything, and the board can review for plagiarism. I used to think it was a stupid rule, but I guess I was wrong.”
Sehun watches as Jongin, Jongdae, and Jaehyun’s mouths fall into tiny o-shapes. An embarrassed blush spreads across the latter’s face as he attempts to quietly close his laptop screen. In his periphery, he can see Johnny pulling his hood over his head. Sehun rolls his eyes. He’d deal with Johnny some other time; he’s not off the hook in his book yet.
“But you were willing to completely sabotage Kyungsoo on the odds that I was dating him,” you continue, but your tone is different now. Sadder than before; not quite disappointed, but almost somber, like you’d come to a harsh realization, “I tried to get you to come with me to this for two years, Jongin. I can’t even count how many times I’d rambled to you about how much of an honor it would be to give my own presentation—about how many opportunities and important people there are here tonight—and you were willing to ruin that for Kyungsoo? For what? For what! I don’t fucking get it!”
Jongin shakes his head, has a jerk reaction to move forward and try to comfort you. “I’m sorry—it was wrong, stupid! I just… I just wanted to have your attention for a little bit.”
Sehun’s seen this scene before; the one where Jongin upsets you, and then somehow makes you believe he’s the only one who can comfort you from his own wrongdoings. He’s a smooth talker, Sehun will give him that, but he’s seen it all before. It almost hurts him to watch it unravel at this point; he can’t even think to look back knowing Baekhyun’s about to witness it, too.
But it doesn’t play out like that; not like it has before. Jongin doesn’t get close enough, but you’re already stepping back, almost stumbling into Kyungsoo.
“You did all this for attention?” you cry out in disbelief, “You wanted to embarrass me in front of my entire faculty and all my friends, for my attention?”
Sehun watches you ball up your fists, the somber timbre of your voice gone; now filled with a kind of anger and frustration he doesn’t think he’s ever heard from you in regards to Jongin.
“Jongin, when we were together I couldn’t hold your attention for more than a few fucking weeks, and now you want me to give you mine, completely undivided? Are you out of your fucking mind?”
It’s a good look on you, Sehun thinks. He likes what he’s hearing, he likes what he’s seeing; he likes this scene much better.
“[Y/N], I—” Jongin reaches out again, but you’re already moving back. Sehun smiles; you might not even realize it, but ironically your backwards movements were a huge step forward.
“Don’t touch me,” you seethe, turning your back to him. You make eye contact with Sehun briefly, then Chanyeol, then some of the others; you look at Baekhyun the longest, a kind of silent message—before sighing.
Jongin doesn’t hear you though, because he tries again, extending an arm, and aiming for your shoulder; but all he gets is a fistful of his own shirt in Chanyeol’s hands.
“She said not to touch her,” the blonde growls, shoving Jongin backwards, letting him stumble into a few desks before standing upright again.
“I—we have to go,” you mumble, shooting Chanyeol a thankful expression before pulling Kyungsoo with you by his sleeve to the door, “Soo and I should go prepare with whatever time we have left.”
You pause at the door, briefly, looking at Baekhyun again, nervous; but it’s all smiles in the shorter boy’s eyes. “We’ll be out there when you guys are up, promise,” he says to you.
That seems to be enough to put a smile on your face, small as it is, before you and Kyungsoo walk out of the room completely and back to the presentation hall.
It’s quiet with you gone now, a palpable tension in the room with Sehun and Chanyeol staring down Jongin, Chungha grilling Jaehyun and Johnny, and Jongdae and Minseok looking like they’re three seconds away from ripping each other’s hair out.
Sehun kinda feels bad for Baekhyun, caught in the middle like this. He sticks close to Junmyeon, the only other neutral party. Well, neutral enough.
“So you’re the boyfriend, then, huh,” Jongin is the first to speak, eyes aiming for Baekhyun, “Dae got it wrong.”
Baekhyun brings a hand up to his neck, “Uh, well… kinda? Not that—it shouldn’t really matter to you, now, anyways.”
God, does Sehun wish Baekhyun was the trash talking type right about now. He sighs; he supposes it’s for the best that he isn’t.
“Well then you should watch out for blondie, and eyebrows over here,” Jongin warns him, “They never let her think for herself. Not to mention, Sehun follows her around like a lap dog, probably because he’s in love with—”
Jongin doesn’t get the chance to finish before Sehun’s fist collides with his jaw, knocking the older boy over, and leaving him hunching over one of the empty desks. Jongin barely gets the chance to gather his bearings before Sehun’s got his fist in his shirt, and pushing his back into the blackboard.
“This is the last time I’m going to tell you to shut that dirty mouth of yours and leave her the hell alone,” Sehun orders, voice so low it could be a whisper, “Do you understand me?”
Jongin only has the strength to groan in response. “I fucking mean it, Jongin, or so help me god,” Sehun’s mouth twitches, his free hand almost coming up to hit him again, but he’s pulled back by Chungha.
He looks at her, huffing as his resolve washes away, and lets go of Jongin completely, not caring for the way he stumbles around to find a desk for support to hold up his weight. Jongdae looks entirely too un-punched for Sehun’s liking, but he’ll leave him to Minseok. For now.
“Do you fuck around with [Y/N] like that because you’re jealous of her?” Baekhyun asks, his question leaving them stunned.
He directs his gaze to a hunched over Jongin, Sehun stepping out of the way with Chungha at his side to give him a better view. All eyes are on Baekhyun, now.
“You don’t like that she has friends who care about her. And you didn’t like that she might have cared about Kyungsoo like you want her to care about you,” Baekhyun reasons, “She has people who love her in way than one, but it’s obvious you don’t have any real friends. Not anymore, at least.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jongin replies, voice strained with coughs in-between his words.
Baekhyun frowns, hands in his pockets. Sehun’s never seen him like this either.
“I think you do,” Baekhyun corrects him, “I think you know you fucked up so bad—not just with her, with Sehun, and Chungha, and Chanyeol, too—they were all your friends before, right?”
Jongin doesn’t answer him, but Sehun nods at Baekhyun in confirmation. His lips fall into a pinched line.
“I used to think you and Jongdae were different,” Baekhyun drawls, “But I get it now. You both had people who loved you, but you thought it was unconditional right? You thought no matter how badly you fucked up, they’d forgive you. But you’re wrong.”
“Sehun doesn’t fight for her blindly; she does the same for him, for Chanyeol, and Chungha, too. It goes both way, like any functioning relationship,” Baekhyun continues, “She was even willing to do the same for you. And Minseokie for Jongdae. But they don’t have to, not if you don’t keep up your end of the bargain; love isn’t unconditional like that. They don’t need you, either of you, but you want them to. Badly.”
It’s evident Baekhyun’s words put a sour taste in Jongin’s mouth, but just enough strength for him to pull himself upwards. “And what makes you think you’re so much better that she’ll need you instead?”
“Nothing,” Baekhyun shrugs, “Because I know she doesn’t.”
Sehun finds himself smiling at Baekhyun’s words, looks around to see that everyone else seems to be in agreement.
“Come on,” Chanyeol speaks up, “We have to be out there before Kyungsoo is up.”
They all nod in agreement, everyone filing out the room. He doesn’t think to look back, not caring for the four left behind. Sehun throws his arm around Baekhyun’s shoulder as they walk towards the presentation hall.
“You know your little speech was pretty kickass and all,” Sehun starts, “But let’s talk about the boyfriend title, shall we? Or, rather, lack thereof.”
Baekhyun chuckles nervously, gone is the serious tone in his voice from before. “Well I didn’t want to call myself her boyfriend because I’m not!… Yet… And, also, she didn’t before!”
“Because you have to ask her, dumbass,” Minseok interjects from behind the pair.
“I am going to!” Baekhyun squeals, composing himself as he realizes they’re now inside the lobby, which means inside voices, “Or, well, I was going to. I don’t think now is the time, anymore.”
Sehun frowns, removing his arm from Baekhyun’s shoulder. He’s probably right. With the way things have gone tonight, he doubts you’re going to want to do anything but go home and eat your weight in fried rice when this is all over.
Still, looking at Baekhyun and Chungha groan over the lack of use of their “beautiful masterpiece of a sign” as they take their seats has him smiling. You and Baekhyun are good; official couple terms or not.
Tumblr media
As soon as the showcase was over, he and the others met you and Kyungsoo outside of the building, with a mountain of hugs and compliments.
Junmyeon shoves a bouquet of flowers into Kyungsoo’s hand, forces him to take pictures with all of them, and Baekhyun even gets a piggy back ride from his friend for all of three seconds before he’s thrown off of his back. Baekhyun also brought a flower crown for Kyungsoo, but none of them could keep it on his head for more than a minute; now it sits atop Maize’s instead.
Baekhyun also gifts you a flower crown, albeit a little bit bigger, and more expensive than Kyungsoo’s, which you accept happily, along with telling him how much you’d loved his very bright decorative poster.
Chanyeol, Sehun, and Chungha, however make his little grown seem obsolete, as they shower you with baked treats, an expensive looking yellow rose bouquet, a homemade sash that reads “best presentation,” and falling confetti from a small confetti gun that Chanyeol had managed to wrangle into his pockets.
By god do you have some good friends.
“Thanks for the… everything, guys,” you say, speaking for both you and Kyungsoo, “I know we wanted to go out to eat after, but honestly, I think I need to call it a day.”
Baekhyun’s hunch turned out to be right, much to Chungha and Chanyeol’s chagrin; both of whom seemed to be looking forward to eating out as a group. The complaints soon settle into small talk, everyone agreeing that tonight had been a whirlwind of events, and some greasy take out and two respective movie nights at Junmyeon and your apartments would suffice.
You’d all get together to celebrate some time later in the week, and at that point there would likely be even more to celebrate for, as it would be after a joint interview you and Kyungsoo were offered for your work in the showcase.
Baekhyun thinks about the other posted rolled up in the one you’d seen, both currently in Chungha’s possession (who’d promised to keep it safe until he was ready to use it again). He’d have another opportunity to ask you, he was sure of it.
“Hey, I’m sorry,” you snap him out of his train of thought, loosely wrapping his hands in yours. Baekhyun crinkles his eyebrows as you continue, “That tonight didn’t go as planned. With—”
“You don’t have to apologize!” he cuts you off with a light chuckle; however, you seem startled, confused even by his reaction, “Babe, you did absolutely nothing wrong; you have nothing to apologize for.”
“Yeah, I guess,” you reply, unsure of yourself, “I don’t know, I just—if they’d thought to go after you instead, who knows what they’d of done and—”
“[Y/N],” Baekhyun calls—that laugh of disbelief still airing through the syllables—wrapping his fingers around yours more firmly, “You’re not responsible for his actions, you know that?”
“I know, but still,” you frown, “I should have known he was up to something. I know I kinda told him off but I just—I don’t want anything to happen to you as a result of their antics, you know?”
“I think the punch Jongin took to the face should prevent them from bothering you again,” Baekhyun chuckles as you eyes go wide.
“Punch—who punched him! Not that he didn’t deserve it, but I told them not to punch anybody. Was it Chungha?—I keep telling her that’s not safe, even if—”
“No it was Sehun,” Baekhyun fills you in, “I don’t think you could have prevented it. Seemed like a long time coming.”
“Yeah, I—I guess it was,” you say, finally, “I know. I’m sorry—about being sorry for them, then.”
Baekhyun laughs from his stomach this time, removing his hands from yours to wrap an arm around your shoulder, pull you into him, and press a kiss to your forehead. “You’re cute.”
Baekhyun sees that you’re about to open your mouth to reply, when you’re cut short by the flash of a camera. When he looks up he finds the culprit to be none other than Chungha, who’s holding her phone up right, and lets out a disappointed groan.
“Ugh, I didn’t get the kiss,” she whines, shoving her screen in Chanyeol’s direction before flipping it around to face the two of you, “You guys look pretty cute still, though, so you’re welcome.”
“Alright, that’s enough of that,” you say, a worn out lilt in your voice as you slowly pull yourself from his hold, “I need a nap. And egg rolls paid for by Chanyeol, so time to get going.”
“But I just volunteered to pay for the later celebration dinner!” Chanyeol exclaims, pouting excessively.
“Don’t worry, Junmyeon can pay when we all go out to eat,” Baekhyun grins, “Won’t even leave a dent in his pockets, right hyung!”
His comment is enough to make everyone chuckle, except Junmyeon who merely shoots him an unamused glance; but Baekhyun knows it means no harm. As if he’d let anyone else pay for a meal.
This information seems to pique Sehun’s interest, however; as the taller boy finds himself stalking towards Junmyeon and wrapping a friendly arm around his shoulder. “Is that so?” Sehun starts, dragging Junmyeon along with him and prompting the rest of the group to start walking towards the parking lots, “I don’t think we’ve met yet, hyung, I’m Sehun.”
“I think I’ve been replaced,” Minseok lolls, watching Sehun and Junmyeon’s silhouettes as they walk ahead.
You chuckle, finding yourself walking between him and Chungha, Maize on his other side, as you head towards the cars. “Don’t take it personally,” you tell him, “Anyone who’s older with a bank account is of interest to Sehun. At least as far as lunch goes.”
Minseok laughs lightly at that, the four of you making small jokes at Sehun expense about his need for companionship and affection in the form of food. It’s a few minutes later when Chungha jokes that if Minseok really needed a new friend to dote on, he should get to know Chanyeol better.
“Hey, Chan, you hear, Min—” you call out to the taller boy, turning your shoulder to face him, but he’s not there. Neither is Baekhyun—not anywhere near the rest of you, anyway.
You stop completely, and turn around, prompting Maize, Minseok, and Chungha to do the same. In the distance, you can see Baekhyun and Chanyeol; it’s as if they hadn’t seen the rest of you walking ahead. And, unfortunately, it looked like the two idiots were… dancing in the middle of the street.
“You think they’ve been hitting the whoah this entire time we’ve been walking?” Maize questions, staring ahead at them like they’re a spectacle. They might as well be.
Chungha sighs, “Probably.”
“I think Chanyeol and Baekhyun are gonna be a little busy becoming best friends,” Minseok laughs, “It looks like they’re already half way there.”
“What could they have possibly been talking about that led them to dancing like that?” Chungha questions.
You’re next, crossing your arms and shaking your head, too. You have to admit, it makes you smile a little bit. That doesn’t make them any less embarrassing.
“Do you see why I avoided introducing them to each other now?”

sleep over
Tumblr media
drabble
warnings: smut, dry humping, sub!sehun
a/n; hunnie is a sensitive babyboy
Tumblr media
Sehun jolted awake with a start, gasping softly as his eyes snapped open. His breathing was labored, he felt hot all over, and his pants felt a whole lot tighter than he remembered them being when he went to sleep. It only took him a moment to realize what had happened.
“Fuck,” he grunted quietly, grimacing as he rolled onto his side, the hard on he was sporting shifting uncomfortably against the suddenly confining fabric of his thick grey sweats. A low groan sounded, and his attention snapped to the space beside him. It took a moment for his somewhat sleep hazed mind to recall that it was your sleeping form occupying the other half of his mattress. Double fuck.
He cursed under his breath, trying to think of a way to slip out of bed and into his connected bathroom without waking you up. You had always been a light sleeper, and seemed to be able to sense when he was no longer in bed with you.
He really hated when he had wet dreams during your weekly sleepovers. You’d been his best friend for as long as he could remember, but the last time you’d found out he’d had a naughty dream, you teased him about it for a month. And the last thing he wanted was to relive the embarrassment of getting called out for his not-so-innocent subconscious thoughts in front of all of his friends once again. It was torturous enough the first time— he didn’t know if he could live down a second.
Holding his breath, he began to slowly move towards the end of the bed. But he didn’t get very far. Because all of a sudden, you rolled over. He froze, eyes widening to the size of saucers as he felt one of your legs slide up between his. Every muscle in his body went stiff. And all at once there was a pressure— right where he needed it most. He swallowed the desperate moan that had begun to climb its way up his throat, teeth latching on tightly to his bottom lip as it began to tremble with the overwhelming need that was rapidly welling up inside of him.
He let out a shaky breath, before clasping a hand over his gaping lips. The two sides of his mind were immediately at war with one another. One side screamed at him to get out before he did something that he’d regret— while the other lured him deeper into the abyss of pleasure that was already beginning to take hold of his mind and body. And god, when he felt like our leg press up even higher, he couldn’t control himself. His hips were rolling before he could second guess his own actions.
One hand leapt down to fist at the bedsheets between your bodies so that he wouldn’t try and grab onto you, the other still hopelessly restricting the desperate, breathless sounds fluttering off of his small lips. His hips moved in slow, carefully circles at first, too scared you might wake up if he tried anything more. But god— it felt good. Really, really good. His entire body felt hot, sweat gathering above his brow from the self control he was exerting to keep his movements from getting too rough.
But something about the ordeal was sending an adrenaline rush to his head. The thought that you could wake up at any moment and catch his using your thigh to get off— shivers rolled down his spine at the mere idea. And honestly, he couldn’t tell if it was from fear… or excitement.
Either way, his movements subconsciously sped up as he felt a sudden tug in the pit of his stomach. Beneath the palm of his hand, his muffled moans grew louder. He really couldn’t help it. The closer he got to release, the less his body complied to his mind. He gasped as you leg suddenly pressed up higher, his hips snapping forward roughly as a strangled mixture between a moan and whimper crawled up his throat.
It was about then that he caught the corner of your lip curling upward.
He thought he’d feel embarrassed if you caught him, or at the very least have the decency to feel ashamed of himself— but he didn’t feel either of those things. In fact, the pleasure coursing through his body seemed to increase tenfold. The restraints he’d been keeping on himself to keep from waking you up snapped completely. The hand previously pressed against his lips leapt to grip at the front of your shirt, while the other moved to hold the top of your thigh.
Your eyes finally opened at the feeling of his hands tightening in your shirt, and he felt himself go light headed. Your stare was intense, hot and dark as you gazed shamelessly at his flushed face. You took your sweet time taking him in, his adorable lips parted and trembling, eyes hooded and desperate, silently pleading, his lean, toned body practically shaking beside yours. Who knew when you’d get to see him like this again, might as well appreciate the moment while you can.
“Sehun...” He couldn’t restrain the gravelly sound that ripped itself from his lips at the sound of you saying his name, voice low and singed with lust. His eyes fluttered, face rolling into the soft pillow below his head. He gasped softly as he suddenly felt your hands on him, taking gentle hold of his frantically thrusting hips and helping them find a steadier rhythm that felt oh–so right. He was more than happy to let you take control and guide his body closer to release, and you praised him quietly for his immediate compliance, “Good boy.”
You might only be best friends, but shit, you knew what he liked.
His body suddenly stalled, jerking and shuddering sporadically as he pushed his flushed face into the curve of your neck. With a strangled, breathless “fuck”, he came crashing down on his high, eyes rolling, hips sputtering, choking on soft moans and low whimpers as he soiled the inside of his grey sweats. You allowed your hand to soothingly caress his back, silently encouraging him to work himself through the mind numbing pleasure of his release.
A low chuckle rolled off your lips when he finally went limp against you, hot breath hitting your skin in short, quick puffs as he subconsciously melted into your soft touches.
“So…” you broke the comfortable silence that had encased you, voice twinged with playfulness.
Even with his face hidden against your shoulder, you knew whatever endearing hue of pink was adorning his cheeks in that moment darkened a shade. There was another lull of brief silence as he tried to swallow back his embarrassment, and you almost cooed as his nose nuzzled against your collarbone, eyelashes tickling you skin.
He didn’t bother to pull away from you as he murmured, “we never speak of this again.”
A wide grin split your lips, amused by his quick assuming, “I was actually just going to ask if you wanted to borrow a pair of pants.”
“…yes, please.”

college boyfriend!sehun
Tumblr media
—genre: fluff
—au: college, friends to lovers
—pairing: oh sehun x reader
—song to listen to while reading: fall again — klang
—word count: 2.2k
—warning(s): mentions of sex, sehunnie being the best boyfriend ever, choking on chips ??? (but it’s nothing bad, i promise)
sehun was your netflix binging partner before he was even your friend
okay ... he was your netflix binging partner before you even knew his name
you guys were in an ethics class together
and it was one of those common classes everyone in uni had to take no matter their major, so it was like 60 of you in a huge ass classroom
so you resorted to the only alternative to keeping you awake during 2 hour long, powerpoint based, boring lectures:
yoy got the best out of your netflix subscription plan
god bless airpods bc you could just hide them with your hair and nobody ever noticed anything
except for sehun
who conveniently sat one seat to the left on the row above you
so he had the perfect view to your laptop screen
and had watched the whole fifth season of peaky blinders with you
of course he never told you bc that... that would have been kind of weird
so he just kept to himself and tried his best to keep on being your anonymous netflix partner
he had even started to buy himself some snacks to munch on during class and was truly living his best life
until you finished peaky blinders ... and were about to start watching crash landing on you
sehun just ... sehun loved that show, okay?
so when he saw the intro pop on your laptop he started choking on his shrimp chips, creating a commotion
like ... even the professor stopped talking and asked him if he was okay, causing everyone to turn around and face him
red-faced, choking him
even you, who had paused the show and turned around in your seat so quickly he thought you’d cracked your neck
and in that moment, sehun did the only thing he could think of
which in that case meant bolting straight out of the classroom coughing like a madman
and just like the concerned netflix partner classmate you were, you had walked out right after him
“yah! don’t run, let me help you!”
and tbh ... sehun had never expected to turn around and come face to face with you, holding a bottle of water for him to sip on
that alone helped him stop coughing
he reluctantly accepted the water while turning beet red in the face
so the two of you sat down on a set of stairs that were near the classroom while sehun drank his water
he was trying his best to zone you out, eyes set on the floor and only focusing on the bottle in his hand
bc that had been ... embarrassing, to say the least
and he had asked you, in the smallest voice possible to please wait until class was over to pick ur things up bc he didn’t wanna go in and then interrupt the lecture again
so you granted him his wish
and when people started piling out of the classroom, you were like well
and sehun didn’t even say anything to u before he walked back inside, took his backpack with him and walked away
so you were like ???? as you stashed your laptop in ur bag and walked back to your dorm
you didn’t see him the next class
and since the room was so big you were like wtf did he sit someplace else
you couldn’t even watch your show in peace that day bc ... what had you even done to him
the lesson after that ... you were resigned
whatever was his problem you wouldn’t mind
but then someone placed a blue thunder gatorade on your desk with a hot pink post it pasted on the cap
“spare airpod ???”
and sehun was sat on the chair next to yours, drinking from his own gatorade bottle while he waited for your response
so you fished the earbuds from your bag and extended your hand, one of them resting on your palm
sehun took it
and the two of you watched the third episode of the show together
the two of u didn’t speak much though
he’d muttered a soft “thank you” when returning the airpod when class was done and that was it
but then he sat next to you the following lesson
and the next one
and the next one
a couple of weeks after that he started giving you bags of chips and cookies alongside the gatorade
until you had finished a couple of dramas
... and the semester
the two of you were quite bummed the last day of classes
bc neither of you had seen the other one in any other classes so you were sure you weren’t in the same major
and sehun had only said “it was very nice meeting you” after the last class was over
and that was it
or u thought
until half-way through the summer, you had finally found enough willpower to clean your backpack
and had found a cute little note on the bottom of it
from none other but your cute, tall classmate
“maybe we could hang out and actually talk sometime?” alongside his phone number
and at first you were like oh a month has gone by, he won’t remember me
but then you wrote a simple “hey, it’s (y/n) from ethics”
and sehun almost ... choked once again when he read it
bc he though you just weren’t going to text him at all
and so the two of you started talking
he was very funny and easy-going, so you became friends pretty fast
you texted all through-out the summer
and ofc sehun told chanyeol, his best friend and roomate, about it
which prompted chanyeol to tease him 24/7 abt how he should just ask you out
and sehun was like “it’s not like that”
but everyone could see it was like that
so sehun was like ... okay i might
and he was like “so i was thinking ... maybe we could go to the movies”
and you were like !!!!!! red code !!!!!! alert !!!!!! oh my gOD
bc you had been like ... crushing on him ever since the chip incident
and answered him like “yeah that’d be nice”
a few days after you went to the movies
and were both a mess at first but the date actually turned out pretty well bc you went for dinner afterwards and everything ran out pretty smoothly
sehun was like OOOOOOH YEAH I’M UR BOYFRIEND NOW ... right after he walked you to your door
but you weren’t complaining bc you liked him a lot too
SO NOW
onto the relationship
ngl you are like low-key done with him the week after you start dating bc he is ... a little shit
like if he feels he isn’t getting enough attention he’ll go like “(y/n) that’s so unfaiiiiiiiiir”
but then he’ll start playing around with vivi and you’re standing there like okAY
and if you tell him he’ll get all sassy and go like “i knEW u just can’t live without me”
but then when you spend enough time with vivi and he starts running to you instead of sehun ... he goes like “wAIT (y/n) he’s MY son wtf”
but inside he’s like “that’s OUR son oh my god”
gets low-key jealous of all the lead actors of the dramas you watch together
like suddenly you’ll turn around and he’s pouting
but he forgets about it halfway through the episode
even though you two aren’t in the same class anymore he likes studying together
and is always buying snacks for your study dates
he’ll study for like 15 min and then will start pouting bc he wants kisses
wears a lot of hoodies and sweatpants but will also clean up somedays bc he wants to look nice for you
will very subtly leave his hoodies at your dorm
he thinks it’s romantiquè
and you’re very grateful for it bc he’s very tall and thus his hoodies are very cozy
you kinda want to kill him sometimes but he’s definitely the kind of guy that calls you at three am just because he wants to talk to you“i just wanted to hear your voice”
and he’s just laying in his bed smiling like a fool while you tell him about your day
you both end up constantly falling asleep over the phone but neither of you mind
and then chanyeol enters the apartment and sees him passed out on the couch with his phone in hand and your name on his screen
it’s safe to say sehun’s not going to live it down
i don’t think he’d be a big fan of pda
so in public, you kinda only hold hands
he might give you a little kiss from time to time but that’s pretty much it
oh but in private ... he can’t keep his hands off you
and your butt
he gives the best hugs ever??? and it doesn’t help that he loves hugging you
forehead kisses
so so so many forehead kisses
definitely takes advantage of his height
for that, and for placing stuff on high places so that he has to help you on getting them down
lowkey touches your butt when he’s doing it
okay but when you’re ... doing the do
sehun’s a switch
i feel like he’d either be such a whiny sub or a very ... whiny dom (but he’d still be very soft ngl)
(i mean he’s the spoiled maknae for a reason)
favorite thing ever is when you ride him and he can just hold your hips really tight and guide your movements so they can match his
moans so fucking loud you’re sure your entire floor can hear the two of you
i’m not sure he’d be a very kinky lover
like i feel he’d be pretty vanilla
but i mean ... he dances ... his hips can ... do things
so it’s not like it’s anything bad, you know ????
a huge fan of hickeys
but on more ... private places
like he’ll never leave one on your neck
but your chest is a completely different story
bc he doesn’t leave them so that people can see them
he leaves them so he can see them and remind himself that you’re his
that you chose him
that was really sappy
he’s a dance major
and he’s always asking you to go with him to practices
both bc he loves being with you and bc he likes it when you watch him dance
he’s a tease and we all know it
he’d run his hands over his hair and smirk all the time bc he knows you’re looking at him
sometimes he even takes off his shirt and acts like it’s just bc of the heat
and you blush so hard and he’s just like 😌
but also when he has a show or presentation or something
he gets so so so so nervous
but then he spots you in the crowd and just smile a bit bc you’re there, supporting him, and that’s all that matters
his phone background is this selfie the two of you with face masks on
you had your hair up in a bun and both of you were lounging in sweats
you had been playing around with snapchat filters and accidentally took the sweetest photo ever
so he asked you to send it to him
and he set it up as both his lock screen and his home screen
yours is a mirror selfie you took when you were watching him practice
you were taking a photo and when sehun noticed he came to give you a kiss on the cheek
and it was the sweetest thing ever
he literally sends you each and every selfie he takes
and sometimes goes like “hey does this look okay?”
and sometimes it’s more like “your boyfriend is so hot wth”
and just as he takes so many selfies so he can send them to you
he also likes taking photos with you
literally everywhere you two go
he either takes a selfie or asks someone to take a picture of you
and everyone he asks always thinks you’re the most adorable couple ever
bc the love you two have for each other is like so obviously there
and he gets so soft whenever people tell him that
even when it’s chanyeol who says it
truth is chanyeol loves you because of how happy you make sehun
he once told you when you got back home from a club

EXO (Mafia!AU) reacting to you being pregnant.
Tumblr media
pairing: exo x reader fandom: exo warnings: mafia!au ; non idol!au ; language genre: fluff ; angst word count: 1.8k+
a/n: I don’t think I need to put a warning for chen here as this is a mafia au, but if you’re uncomfortable with a chen part where the reader is pregnant, please be aware :) thank you @rhapsody-of-fire for the request and I LOVE Your icon hahaha
Tumblr media
kim minseok
Tumblr media
You and Minseok had been trying for a baby for months, ever since you and him had finally gotten married.
The road up to this point had not been easy and it's not just disapproving family members that you had to survive, but attempts on your life for 'forming an allegiance that could overthrow the mafia industry'.
Minseok wanted a child, just as much as you did, but both of you were also very worried about what bringing a child into this dark world would mean.
Nevertheless, when you told him that you were expecting.. it seemed like all of that darkness washed away for a moment and him and you were just two normal people, excited about their newest addition to the family.
“I can't believe it,” he laughed out, hugging you as closely as possible and then gently pushing you away to look at your belly, “We're going to be parents!”
In that moment, if anyone else had seen him, nobody would have suspected what he did for a living. People would have assumed he was a kind and gentle man.. which he was.. but only to you and, now, your child as well.
To the rest of the world? Not so much.
kim junmyeon
Tumblr media
“So boss,” Junmyeon and a few of his goons were in their meeting room, drinking, planing and smoking, when one of his minions said something that not even he had known.. and usually he knew everything, “Heard you finally knocked up your wife, huh? Congrats!”
And then the entire room went quiet, because nobody apparently knew except for this little shit.
Junmyeon would have had a word with him that had ended with a bloody nose at best, but he had gotten up instantly and ran into the bedroom, only to find you look at him with furrowed eyebrows.
“What's gotten into you?”
“You're pregnant?!”
“How..- I told them not to tell you yet!”
“You..- How come one of my men knows, but I, the father of the child, don't?!”
“The first few months are always the scariest, because everything can happen during that period,” you sighed and approached him, gently placing your hand on his chest, “I know how much you want to be a father and I didn't want to disappoint you if it didn't work out.”
He let out a sigh, closed his eyes and then let his forehead rest against yours.
He was a ruthless man, truly.
But in that moment, his thoughts weren't consumed by death and destruction, all he could think of in that moment was: “I love you and thank you for looking out for me like you always do.”
zhang yixing
Tumblr media
You had accompanied your husband to a dinner with some other leaders of smaller groups around town.
Yes, your husband had the most weapons and followers, didn't mean that he wanted to start a war with any – let alone all – of these smaller bosses, so he regularly attended these dinners to keep the peace.
“Ma'am,” when Yixing and you had sat down, a man walked up to you with a glass of champagne, but you kindly declined and told him you'd stick with water tonight.
And your husband obviously noticed.
He noticed everything.. except for the most important thing.
“You never pass up on an opportunity to drink champagne. You feeling okay?”
“Yeah, yeah.. just.. not in the mood, I guess.”
Yixing stared at you for a moment longer, then he heard the woman from across chuckle into her glass, “What's so funny?” he asked.
“It's so obvious, yet you're not seeing it. Maybe she should lead your people if you can't even notice something like this.”
And even you couldn't help but chuckle at that, because yes, you had dropped hints for weeks, yet Yixing never noticed.
It was only when the woman pointed at her own rounded belly that Yixing's head whipped back to you, “YOU'RE PREGNANT?!”
byun baekhyun
Tumblr media
You had wanted to tell him today, had waited for the perfect opportunity to do so and were about to do it as he crawled into bed next to you and pulled you close, but then he got a call.
You didn't hear what it was about, but Baekhyun suddenly said with a heavy sigh: “Wait there. I'll get my men and come to you.”
And when he wanted to get up, you quickly grabbed his shirt and shook your head, “No, don't go.”
“Minseok needs help, (Y/N).”
“It's always somebody that needs something from you. Have you considered that maybe I do too?”
“What could you need?” he let out a snort as he got up, “You got everything you ever wanted here.”
You were quiet for a moment, then you said, “Except for the father of my unborn child by my side.”
And with that you got up and left for the bathroom.
Baekhyun stared after you for a moment, wanted to follow you and talk about this, especially because, yes, he was happy about the news, but then he got another call and he.. left.
As hard as that was.
Because he knew he'd leave behind a crying wife and he hated that more than anything.
kim jongdae
Tumblr media
Was this a good idea? Absolutely not.
Were you still going to do it? Yes.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” Junmyeon stared at Jongdae with furrowed eyebrows, “You're letting her go inside?!”
“What's your issue? She's always done stuff like this with us, she's one of the best we have. Just because she's my wife now doesn't mean she's any less badass.”
Junmyeon only became more confused and he knew it wasn't his place to tell his friend if you hadn't told him yourself, but you weren't just putting yourself in danger anymore, “Dude. She's pregnant.”
And oh boy, you have never seen Jongdae sprint so fast in his life to get you out of danger.
“No, stop! What are you doing?!”
“You think you can just prevent me sending you home by not telling me that you're pregnant?!”
“I'm pregnant, not dead. I can still fight.”
“I don't care, you go home now. This isn't just about you anymore, this is about our baby. This is stupid.”
You pouted, but didn't have much of a choice, because one of your husband's men pretty much dragged you back to the car. And of course you knew your husband was right but.. you were just a little too stubborn to see it in that moment.
park chanyeol
Tumblr media
He hated himself in that moment more than he had ever hated himself before and that said a lot, because ever since Chanyeol took his father's place, he despised himself for what he did.
“I should have protected you more,” he said in a low and broken voice as he held your cold hand, “None of this would have happened if I had taken better care of you.”
You weren't dead.. not yet, but close to it by the looks of it.
You had called him, but he had been in a meeting so he hadn't answered. Later, he had found out that you had called because somebody had broken into the house and had stabbed you as well as every staff member in the house.
Only a handful survived, those who did just barely.
And you were one of them.
“Mister Park?” the doctor entered the room and waited until Chanyeol turned around before continuing, “I just wanted to inform you that the child is unharmed.”
“The.. child?”
The doctor blinked at him for a second, opening his mouth and then closing it again before he said: “Well.. yes. Your wife is three months pregnant.”
And that was the last straw for him to fully break down.
do kyungsoo
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo shouldn't be home yet. He had told you he'd be out of the city for a few days, so you had felt comfortable enough to invite the doctor to your place.
So imagine your surprise – and his – when he entered the living room and found the doctor doing an ultrasound on you and a heart beat that was definitely too fast to be yours echoing through the room.
“What the hell?”
“Thank you doctor,” you quickly said, signaling him that he could stop now, before wiping away the gel from your belly, “What are you doing here? You said you'd be gone for a while.”
“You're pregnant?!”
“Yes. You just saw it yourself, didn't you?”
“Why didn't you tell me?”
“Because you were too fucking busy, Kyungsoo! Like you always are.”
You were angry with him, because, of course, you had wanted him to be there with you for this moment, but then he had said he'd leave from one second to the next without an explanation and you thought he might be cheating on you or something.
Deep down you obviously knew that he had to leave because of what he did for a living, but you were still angry at him for just leaving like this.
And now he had to make up for it for the next three weeks by buying you ice cream every night because you were craving it.
Payback is sweet.
kim jongin
Tumblr media
“I'm pregnant,” you said over dinner, completely at random, making Jongin almost choke on his food and then say with a full mouth: “What?”
“I found out this morning. Congratulations. You'll be a father.”
Yet you weren't necessarily happy about it.
This marriage wasn't a good one. You had been naive and stupid when you had married him and had thought you could deal with the life he was living.
Wrong.
And now you had brought a baby into all of this and you weren't proud of that. In fact, you were so fucking scared.
Jongin, however, was proud.
Proud, happy, excited..
He knew you were afraid of what this would mean, but he did his best to prove to you that he would never let anything happen to you or this child.
He'd rather die before anyone put a hand on either of you.
oh sehun
Tumblr media
“I don't want to leave like this,” Sehun sat down on the bed, your back facing him.
The two of you had fought earlier and now he had to leave for a new mission.
And see, when Sehun had to leave, there was never a guarantee that he'd come back.
“Then stay.”
“You know I can't do that.”
“Then leave. Leave with me. Let’s go somewhere else, somewhere safe,” you suddenly turned around, your eyes full of tears.
That surprised him.
“What's going on, (Y/N)? Talk to me.”
“I'm pregnant,” you cried out, “And I can't stand seeing you leave so much and I never know whether it's going to be the last time or not. And now every time you do, I think: 'What if that's it? What if our child never gets to meet his or her father?'”
Sehun gulped down hard, then pulled you close and gently brushed over your back to calm you doing, you now crying so much that your body was shaking.
“We'll figure this out. I promise.”
Because he understood your fear. Now more than ever.
Every time he left, he kept thinking the same thing.
'What if I never get to see the face of my child?'
And that had to change.

what it feels like | pcy
Tumblr media
“If this was a brave new world you’d entered with that thinly veiled declaration of love, you wanted no part of it.”
genre | you can send me your dental bill for this tooth rotting mushy fluff / internalized angst if you squint / this might be soft enough to not be considered solid matter / this sat on a shelf next to a soulmates au for five minutes
word count | ~1.8k (this! was! supposed! to! be! a! drabble!)
pairing | PCY x reader (this is actually relatively gender neutral without meaning to be?)
Someone once told you there were many different kinds of love, and many different important firsts beyond just a kiss or a date or sex. You’d kissed and fucked and wined and dined others in the past for plenty of different reasons that didn’t really matter, despite the notion that experiencing any of those firsts with someone who was not your one-and-only was often taboo in your world. Yet, you believed the words you’d once been told by a stranger you no longer remembered, and you held strongly to those ideals, because they grounded you— you found comfort in them, and they acted as a guiding light when you were otherwise wandering lost in the clouded haze of your own life.
The first time you realized that Park Chanyeol was the love of your life felt like a scene from a coming-of-age rom com more than it did a moment in your own life. It came after all those other firsts in your life had been experienced with different people over the last ten years, and it came on one of the otherwise most unimportant nights of your life.
In the months since you’d known him, you’d come to appreciate the different looks you’d witness in Chanyeol’s eyes. When he was deep in thought, focused on something, making a new piece of music or writing a new lyric or verse. When he was bursting with excitement, an extrovert on main, relishing the spotlight and attention from those he surrounded himself with. When he was quiet and calm, his eyes not giving away the thoughts firing through his mind (though those moments were fewer and further between than others— he’s a busy man, you know). He had what you’d come to call ‘galaxy eyes’— you could see the whole universe wherever he looked.
What had compelled you to stay with him well past a reasonable hour, into the middle of the night? To accept the invitation to close the ride share app you’d opened to take you home and instead settle into one of the stools lined up along the bar he’d built in the studio? To willingly take the glass of overpriced special edition Macallan scotch (a bottle you’d only ever seen in person before when locked in a glass case behind an unachievable monetary value for a single bottle of liquor) that he slid across the bar top towards you with a smile plastered on his face? To lift that glass up with a delicate grasp, knocking your knuckles against his and murmuring a ‘cheers’ as you both drank to everything at once and nothing at all?
What had compelled you to snort with laughter with him and exchange humorous stories of your awkward teenage years, to talk about your first crushes and the embarrassing things you’d done in your youth that you could both cringe and laugh at now that years had passed? To follow him when, at the end of the bottle, he’d said he had something important to show you? To wait patiently as he fumbled with the ring of keys to the building he spent most of his free time in— admittedly he spent more time here than in his own home— as he unlocked the door that lead up beyond the top floor? To take his hand as his long legs raced up the stairs to bring you somewhere he insisted he’d never shared with anyone other than Baekhyun or Sehun or MQ? To look out over the safety rails in wonder at the Seoul city skyline at well after three in the morning?
If you had to really narrow it down, it was the comfort he provided.
It was an accident, all of it, really— an accident that you even met, an accident that he broke your expensive prescription glasses and spilled your morning coffee, and an accident that he felt embarrassed and asked for a method to contact you so he could replace them. It was an accident that you even stayed in contact beyond the day you’d gone to his studio building to pick up the replacement pair he’d ordered, so that he could apologize again, profusely, in person.
You’d come to Seoul to get away. To run far away, to start over, to reset, because anything and everything you’d been looking for before was no where to be found in where you were.
And now you were here. And ‘here’ felt more like home than anywhere else in the years of your adult life so far.
It’d been six months since you met, and he’d slowly let you into more and more of his life as that time had passed. There was hesitation on both sides at first— he was still an idol, someone living a very public life, despite having been more senior in his career. You were still decidedly not famous, and had a constant nagging feeling about what was worth giving up of your own privacy in order to cultivate the new found friendship. Ultimately, the same reason you accepted each and every proposition he offered up that night was the same reason you’d stuck around this long: the comfort.
“You’re not cold, are you? If you’re cold, I’ll get you a coat—” He’d asked suddenly, after a prolonged silence shared between you on the rooftop. You shook your head softly, closing your eyes gently for a moment as the heat rushed to your cheeks. Was it from the cold, the alcohol you’d been consuming, or a response to his considerate question that got you? You weren’t really sure that it mattered. Maybe it was none of them, maybe it was all.
“How often do you come here?” You asked, diverting the subject.
He hummed thoughtfully, non-verbally agreeing to give you a pass on his first question despite the shiver he swore he saw run down your spine just now. His eyes never stayed on one point in the skyline for long. Like he was restless, impatient, searching for something. “Whenever I need to remember that I can still be small. Even after all these years, with all the people that know who I am… I can come up here and still feel small.”
His honesty spread a smile across your face, and you couldn’t help the laughter that erupted from deep within you.
“What? What’s so funny?” He pestered.
After the small eternity in relative stillness and silence you’d shared since ascending to the rooftop, you turned your head and looked straight into his galaxy eyes to respond. “Park Chanyeol, you’re might just be the biggest, grandest presence of a person I’ve ever had the fortune of meeting and knowing. But you’re also the softest and most sincere. If you want to be small, I promise I’ll forever see you as how you want to be seen. I promise to do my very best to see you as that and only that.”
Where did the proclamation even come from? Deep within your heart and psyche, that’s for sure, unearthed by the liquor and again the comfort, that pesky comfort you felt when you were with him; and you knew without the liquor and the comfort that proclamation would have otherwise remained buried. As you processed what you’d just said to him, your heart thrummed in your chest, and an awareness settled over you.
‘Oh,’ you thought, ‘This must be what that feels like. What it feels like.’
You knew you’d said the wrong thing as the moments between your words and his lack of a response ticked by, as the silence between you grew from a pause to a hesitation to a complete and utter blank stare looking back at you. Those galaxy eyes, the ones you’d grown to treasure, rendered completely unreadable by something you’d said. If this was a brave new world you’d entered with that thinly veiled declaration of love, you wanted no part of it.
You had to back pedal, to rewind the last two minutes and take it back, you couldn’t have him catch on—
“Shit,” he muttered out finally, running his hand through his slightly grown-out bleached hair.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean—”
“You feel it too?” His words cut you off, and it took a moment to register what he’d just implied.
What was that feeling? ‘That’ ‘it’ you were just so sure you’d felt? Surely it wasn’t the foundation of everything you thought you knew shifting, of your heart gravitating towards that of another, of a sudden realization that the center of your world wasn’t the sun or a star or a physical place, but the space between you and another person?
“What… what do you feel? When you’re with me?” You asked softly, unable to look away from him despite the furious flush you wished you could hide.
And there it was again, erasing any fear or previous hesitation, reinforcing everything you’d felt that you’d been so sure you’d fabricated in your mind. That kilowatt smile, the sparkle in his eyes, looking like he held the whole world in his gaze when his eyes were on no one else but you. “I feel like I see my whole future by my side, and that I want nothing more than for them to feel the same.”
Would it be so bad? To take his hand?
“I—” you breathed out, words caught in your throat before they could even make their way to your tongue.
“You keep your promises, no? Didn’t you just promise me to see me how I want to be seen?”
He had a point. If you’d taught him anything about yourself these past few months, it’d be that you kept your word when you gave it. You sucked a breath in and bit down on the flesh of your mouth, chewing at the inside of your lip for a moment. How could you weigh every pro and con of allowing yourself to love the man beside you with your whole heart? How could you make such a choice in so brief a passage of time, to give in to everything your psyche had been all but screaming at you for at least the last month, if you really thought about it?
Anxiety made your heart race faster and faster as he waited for your response. Your eyes flicked down to see his hands gripping the guardrail in front of him, knuckles turning white as he steadied himself. And in that moment, you came to realize a different truth of not just the love of your life, but humanity in general: celebrity status aside, everyone deserved to love and be loved in return. You could only wish that everyone important to you could feel the way you felt when you looked in Chanyeol’s eyes.
Really, would it be that bad?
‘No,’ you finally thought, unable to stop the smile from spreading as you rose on the tips of your toes to meet your lips with those of the man who wanted to be reminded that even with the life he’d led so far and the path he’d chosen that he could still be small, ‘It wouldn’t be bad at all.’

Finding Atlantis (part 6)
Pairing: Baekhyun x Reader
Genre: Action/Adventure, Enemies to Lovers, PirateAU
Description:   20 years ago the seas became angry. Unruly and unkind to any sailor,  to  any ship that dared venture too far out in her waters. Many a man  has  heard the tales of Atlantis, the lost city, the key the ocean. But  fewer  men know the tale of it’s missing child. The key to the ocean,  the key  to Atlantis but a lost little one. The power one would hold  should they  find this child would be nearly that of Poseidon himself.  Thus, the hunt  began.
A/N: I meant to update last week but my VPN wasn’t working! I couldn’t access tumblr bc it’s blocked here in china but i finally got it fixed lol. This one is long! WARNING(s): Smut + Character Death (??)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13, Part 14, Part 15, Part 16, Part 17, Part 18
Tumblr media
After hours of discussion and blindly heading southeast, you all were finally able to somewhat crack the code of the rhyme and the map.
“Follow the sound of your soul, she’ll call out to you to bring you back to your shoal. That’s clearly about the Atlantis return song. It’s the most important part of all of this. If we don’t get a better handle of when it appears and when it doesn’t we won’t get through the rest of the trails.”
“Trials?”
“Yes, there are three different trials masked in the lyrics of the song. The way back isn’t easy. If you leave Atlantis, you have to prove that you truly want to return,” Yeri replies.
You squint at the map now covered in writing.
“She’ll fight you to prove that your heart is true, to crush you and build you back stronger in her darkest shade of blue,” Sehun reads. “It’s about a storm. A very big one by the sound of it.” He points to an area of the map with nothing but water. “You see this area? It’s known for its unruly currents and unnatural weather patterns. It ranges from snow to thunderstorms large enough to wipe out entire islands.”
Junmyeon grazes his fingers over the map, passing the spot Sehun mentioned and further southeast. “Beautiful songs will call out to confuse the path, to distract you, but remembering your heart will get you through…if we continue beyond the location of the storm we’ll be set to approach Isla de Sirena within a week.”
“Shit,” Baekhyun murmurs.
Yeri looks on in confusion. “Why shit?”
“Isla de Sirena is an island known for luring ships underwater. They crash ships among the rocks with song. They appear as the most beautiful creature that you can imagine; whatever you subconsciously find the most alluring. I don’t know how they do it. Different people can look at the same one and see different things; they trick you that way. Mermaids…sirens, whatever you want to call them. Freaky little bitches.”
“Baekhyun,” Junmyeon admonishes.
“What? They are!”
“So we’ve got to face…beautiful singing women? Oh no the horror,” you gasp jokingly.
Baekhyun pinches the bridge of his nose. “You are so horny, and so stupid all the fucking time.”
“You’re one to fucking talk-”
“Children!” Junmyeon scolds. “Can we please hold off on the flirting until this is over?”
“We aren’t flirting-”
“Anyway!” You and Baekhyun close your mouths in embarrassment. “We’ve gone near Isla de Sirena, once,” Sehun adds grimly, eyebrows pitching angrily. “If you’re able to ignore their voices then you can see them for they are. They’re the ugliest creatures I’ve ever seen in my life.” He shivers.
“So what’s the final trial?” Baekhyun asks, back to contributing to the conversation and not being a pain in your ass.
“She’ll finally take you in her arms again, cradled and safe where all life began…” Yeri reads. A sigh. “We aren’t completely sure. It’s something about a rebirth?”
You scratch your chin.
“Maybe it’s about being drowned.”
Everyone turns their eyes to you.
“What?” you ask; your wide eyes look back at everyone staring at you as if you said something crazy. You point to the map in the general area where you think you all may end up. “There’s no land anywhere near here, and the city is underwater. Born from water, taken away from water, and then reclaimed by the water. If you leave, you must be drowned and reborn into an Atlantian again right? Why else would you forget your memories and connection to the sea the longer you’re away?”
“You are reborn in the place where life began…” Baekhyun mumbles. “You might be right. The final trial is a drowning of some kind. There’s a reason only Atlantian’s are the only people who can reach the city.” Baekhyun smacks you on the shoulder. “You’re not completely useless!”
You frown and hold your shoulder.
Bastard.
~~~
Candles cover the deck of the ship as the sun sets on the horizon. You watch somberly as each member of your crew places an object that reminds them of Taemin, of Amber, of Kun, and of Jaehyun in each of the four caskets meant to sail them to the other side.
Their bodies are wrapped in cloth to save everyone the trauma of facing their decomposing faces. Flowers, candies, articles of clothes surround each body with the things that made them who they were in life.
And will hopefully comfort them in the land of death.
Your most artistically inclined deckhand, Ten, places a portrait of each of them in their respective boat. An image to match the body.
“Jaehyun was always smiling; he worked hard as a gunner. He’d hoped one day to be master gunner of the ship.” Mark stands over the casket. “He uh, he never said much but he had the most imaginative mind of any person I ever met,” he says with a sad smile. “When the cannon backfired and killed him, it was quick, so at least he didn’t suffer for long. Farewell friend. I’ll see you on the other side.”
Luna takes over where Mark left off, standing in front of Amber’s casket. “I’ve known Amber since we were kids. She was a strange one,” she laughs. “She was very head strong and opinionated even when she was wrong. We both knew that working in the artillery was going to be rough, that it would be dangerous, but I know that she loved this job more than anything. She had a family with us, and she died where she would have wanted, I think.” Tears fill her eyes as she sits back down in the circle of crewmen.
“Kun…was like an older brother to me. He would tell me that I was getting on his nerves, but he would always take care of me…uh…take care of all of us in the best way he could. Every meal he served, every wound he healed, was done with care. Unfortunately, sickness isn’t as kind. He tended to Taemin with his last breath, tried to heal with all he had until he had nothing else to give. I’m going to miss him and his cheesy magic tricks.” Ten takes in a deep breath to keep his voice from wavering. “I hope he’s taken care of with as much love as he gave us.”
You can hear people holding back their tears. Sniffles and soft sobs escaping into the air every few seconds.
This time you stand as the representative to send off Taemin. You avoid everyone’s eyes and focus your gaze on his wrapped body and the trinkets around him. “Taemin was one of my earliest crewmen. I may have owned the ship, but Taemin was the one who knew best how she moved. He piloted with a grace and confidence I have still yet to achieve. I don’t have a single doubt that he’ll be able to guide himself to the other side without issue. He had a natural skill for movement.” You focus on an object nestled snuggly at his side. “I just hope he doesn't lose any of the things we’re sending with him the way he always loses his money pouches.” You manage a smile.
A couple of people chuckle softly, sadly.
“As Captain of the Storm Chaser, I release the four of you from duty.” You raise your gun in the air. “I couldn’t have asked for braver, hardworking, and loyal men.” You fire a single shot into the air.
It rings through the night.
Everyone stands, begins to close the wooden coffins, and Junmyeon soaks them in gunpowder and oil.
You watch the coffins get lowered into the water one by one. As they begin to float away, you, Mark, Luna, and Ten line up along the edge of the ship.
“Ready,” you all cock your guns. “Aim.”
“Fire.”
The coffins alight with flames. Yixing lights a single firework and it shoots into the air and covers the sky in bright yellow sparks.
May these lights guide them on their future paths.
No one moves until the coffins are far out of sight, their flames no longer visible. Until nothing but darkness rests in the distance. With heavy eyes, and heavier hearts, you all pull away from the railing.
Those who were close to the ones sent away cry openly and you allow everyone the rest of the night to rest and mourn as they see fit. Crying, shaking, screaming.
People cope in different ways.
As everyone disperses below deck you see Yixing rubbing Jongin’s back as the two of them cry clinging tightly to the other.
You know that Yixing grew up with Taemin. Yixing had been the one to recommend him for the crew because of their shared history. Knowing now that Yixing knew Jongin at the same time, you realize that Jongin must have known Taemin closely as well.
Leaving them to console one another, you walk away.
The stories of their deaths, of their lives, makes your heart a bit less heavy. Knowing that they died doing what they wanted, and not because life was stolen from them in situations counter to their personality eases a bit of the pain.
Minutely.
It still hurts, but the anger is no longer there. Just sadness.
This is the life of pirates after all.
Junmyeon has hidden himself away somewhere on the ship, as he always does when he wants to cry without being found, so you make your way towards the food storage for a drink. You need it after today.
People cope in different ways.
The stairs creak as you descend. One of the lanterns is already on, bright near the liquor storage. It shouldn’t surprise you. You wouldn’t be the only person who wants to drink to numb a bit of the pain.
What does surprise you is who you find hunched over with his face in his hands.
“Baekhyun?”
His head lifts and you immediately take notice of the red in his visible eye and face in the dim lighting. He seems alarmed to have been caught. He looks away in shame.
You sit down in front of him.
The bottle of whiskey at his side is half empty; you reach for it and take a sip.
For your men.
Silence shrouds you both.
You feel the need to speak. To clear the air. Whether you are doing it for him or for yourself you aren’t sure. “No one blames you, you know,” you say so softly that it almost blends into the silence. You hope he doesn’t hear.
But of course he does.
He looks over with anger. “I never said it was my fault.”
“You didn’t have to. You’re down here drinking alone after a funeral. This screams ‘this is all my fault’ you emo fucker.”
He snatches the bottle from your hands.
“Look, okay. No one thinks it’s your fault. You heard the stories. Yeah, you guys shot my ship, but their deaths weren’t directly a result of that. Things went wrong; I will accept that it was just a shot to immobilize us. If any of us thought you a murderer, in this case, we would have hung you by your neck long ago.” You forcefully grab the bottle back with a frown. “There’s plenty of other shit for you to feel guilty over. Like the time you shot me…or stabbed me…or left me on that island for dead.”
“I swear to the Gods-”
“The point is…this one isn’t on you. You don’t need to carry this guilt. Not this time.” You take a quick drink. “If however,” you point your finger at him menacingly, “this was on purpose, then I take all that back and I will kill you right fucking here I swear to the Gods.”
The bottle is taken back. “It wasn’t,” he admits, softly, angry. A swig. “It wasn’t on purpose,” he says again tiredly.
His honesty takes you by surprise. Baekhyun has killed just as many people as you have in your life. If he had tried to kill them, well that would be expected. But for him to be this affected by the accidental deaths? That’s surprising.
“What are you doing down here anyway?” he asks.
“Do you really think you’re the only person on this ship who hides down here drinking? You’re talking to the master!” you boast. “And it’s my ship you ungrateful wrench.” You finish off what’s left of the whiskey and reach for a bottle of golden rum tucked securely on a shelf. Uncorking it with your teeth, you hold it in the air between you. “To Taemin, Kun, Amber, and Jaehyun!”
It burns like hell itself going down.
You hold it out for Baekhyun with an expectant eyebrow raise. You wait.
He grabs it gently. “To Taemin, Kun, Amber, and Jaehyun,” he repeats in a murmur. He makes a noise of pain as the alcohol burns its way down his throat. “What the fuck is this?”
You shiver as the alcohol settles uncomfortably in your stomach. “It's the bad rum I think.” You cough violently. “Oh fuck I think I’m going to die,” you say clutching your stomach.
His wild laugh echoes in the dark space. A bit of the gloom lifts.
You let your hands fall from your stomach while you take in the relaxed happiness on his candlelit face. His eye crinkled in a crescent, shining with mirth. You don’t think you’ve seen him laugh like that since the first time you met him.
He’s pretty. You’d have to be stupid not to admit it. From his soft and shiny hair, to his cheeks that bunch up when he smiles. From his big dumb ears to all of the little moles that dot his body.
The bottle goes back up to his ridiculously pink lips and he laughs as it hurts his throat just as bad as the first sip.
All it takes is a second of thoughtless, drunken courage for you to lean forward and quickly press your lips against his, cutting off his giggles.
When you pull pack, the happiness on his face has made way for shock and then once more to nothing.
“Don’t kiss me,” he says tonelessly. His voice is serious, but you see the spark of challenge in his eye.
Ignoring the part of you that always tells you that jumping headfirst into him is a bad idea, you lean in again, slower. You brace your hands on his thighs and feel them tense beneath your palms. He stares at your lips and you watch enrapt as his tongue pokes out to wet his bottom lip.
You can feel your skin vibrating from the proximity to him, and you freeze; a breath away from meeting skin with skin. Your eyes glance up to meet his and you can see the want, the restlessness, and something else you can’t quite place in the dark.
As if waiting any longer would be torturous, he leans forward impatiently to press his lips against yours. The bottle of rum falls to the ground and spills onto the floorboards of the storage room.
You don’t care.
You push harder; open your mouth to let his tongue slide against yours in a way that sends tingles through every nerve in your body. Maybe it’s the alcohol, maybe it’s the touch of sadness, but something feels different about this time.
You crawl onto his lap, driven purely by instinct and press every inch of your body against his. Heat seeps through your clothes and you pant longingly as he pulls you closer by your neck, his other hand grabbing you roughly by your ass. A wanton moan escapes your mouth and he pulls you closer, rougher. Breaths puff into each other’s mouths as you messily connect your lips over and over again. It’s uncoordinated. It’s wet. It’s exactly what you need.
You thread your fingers in his hair and yank his head back; diving to lick and suck along the column of his neck, to the sensitive spot behind his ear that you know drives him crazy. His grip on your body tightens as he releases a shaky groan and rolls his hips up against yours. Anticipation thrums through your body. To every noise, to every touch your body responds in earnest.
This is nothing but a distraction. For you. For the both of you, you don’t care. Neither of you have to think as clothes are removed. The sadness can be ignored as you claw against his skin and coax his tongue into your mouth. It’s all movement. All feeling. All lust.
People cope in different ways.
It always happens like this. You argue. You fight. You threaten each other. You fuck until you’re both exhausted and too tired to care about the years of hatred between you. For these few moments all you are, are bodies. Bodies moving in tandem, kissing the right places, touching the right spots, connecting at the right angle. Like this things are easy, wordless.
You each just understand how the other works.
Every movement is matched in urgency, in desperation. Touch for touch. Kiss for kiss. Sound for sound. Push for pull. Gasps, moans, whimpers are muted as best you can in the quiet of the storage. You don’t realize that you’re subconsciously avoiding aggravating the stitches that lie there, still fresh, in his side as your hands leave burning paths along his skin.
Just for now, you can allow yourselves to feel that maybe you don’t hate each other as much as you let on.
~~~
“Get your own fucking telescope!”
“Where am I going to get one? We’re in the middle of the god forsaken ocean; do you expect me to pull it out of my ass?”
“You should have brought yours with you if you wanted to use one so bad! That doesn’t give you permission to just take my shit whenever you feel like it. You aren’t Captain here.”
“Oh, bite me.”
“I’ll do worse than that. Seulgi, get me my pistol.”
“Captain I don’t think-”
“You think you’re going to shoot me? Chanyeol where’s my gun?!”
“I’m gonna shoot you right in your last fucking working eye you dirty fucking son of a-”
A hand covers your mouth before you can finish your curse. “Baekhyun, you’re needed in the kitchen. Kyungsoo is asking for you.” You and Baekhyun share one last deadly glare before he stalks off and you’re released.
“What the hell Minseok?” You turn on your gunner, anger from your argument with Baekhyun being projected instead onto him. It has to go somewhere.
He crosses his arms over his chest, unbothered.
“So you’re in love with him right? That's why you’re acting like this?”
Your eyes bulge out of your skull. “I’m sorry, what did you just ask me?”
He sighs, grabs you by your arm and drags you all the way to the infirmary. You’re forced to sit down stupefied as Minseok stares at you expectantly. “The two of you are exhausting to watch. If you weren’t two of our most capable men we would have tied you both up and put you in the brig until we found Atlantis days ago,” he says evenly.
You scoff, mouth agape.
“I would tell you to fuck and move on, but seeing as that seems to be what triggers a fresh round of arguments, I’m going to ask that you two refrain from ever having sex on the ship again in the future.”
You splutter embarrassed. Your skin heats at having been called out so boldly. “W-what?! How- Wh- How’d you find out?”
“Any time the two of you have sex, you spend the next month or so telling all of us how much you hate him, how you’re going to kill him, blah blah blah. After a while you stop being as vocal about it, but then we make port, usually at Arae, and he happens to be there, then BAM we're back where we started. You’re obsessed with each other.”
You flush. “We are not,” you try to deny. His face is unimpressed. “I don't know where you got the idea that either of us feel anything but pure hatred for the other. Okay yeah, we’ve had sex a couple of times. So what? It doesn’t mean anything. I’ve had sex with half of Arae.” You cross your arms defiantly.
“As soon as this is all over, we’ll part ways...in 6 months we’ll go to Arae for a bit, as we always do, you’ll have ‘angry hate sex’ yet again and then spend the next month being pissy over his existence. No one who genuinely hates someone spends so much time a) around them willingly and b) obsessing over them when they aren’t around,” Minseok says matter-of-factly. “I think you should both admit you’re in love with each other so we can all move on.”
“Minseok!”
“I agree,” Jongin’s head pops up from behind the singular bed in the room.
“What are you doing here?” you ask, heat again filling your cheeks at the extra witness to this interrogation.
“I work here?”
“I mean hiding behind the bed!”
“Oh…I uh tripped and then the door opened and you guys started talking and I was too afraid to get up and interrupt,” he says quickly.
You squint in judgment.
“This whole…” Minseok waves his hand around as he searches for the word, “…archenemies thing is getting old, Captain. If you really wanted to kill him, you would have done it already. And I’m sure the same goes for Byun. Right Jongin?” he turns to face the younger.
“Yeah,” Jongin agrees with a shrug.
You can’t believe your ears. “He just…hasn’t done anything worth actually killing him over yet. He’s useful sometimes…for information…” you murmur lamely. The excuse is weak even to you.
“You are both dumb and annoying…and also super transparent. Whenever you injure the other, it’s always in a place that won’t kill or do permanent damage. Don’t act like it’s just been luck that you’ve both managed to miss any kind of serious blow from the other. You’re both deadly fighters, you know how to kill someone if you want them dead.”
“He ditched me in cuffs on that island-”
“You had the key to the cuffs,” Jongin chimes in unhelpfully.
Minseok rolls his eyes at your words. “Yes, and again, in a survivable situation. Was there not food and shit on that island?”
You open and close your mouth pathetically.
“Exactly. It’s not like you’re an incompetent dumbass. You would be able to find your way off even if you hadn’t been found. He didn’t blow the ship to bits like he could have a month ago, you haven’t slit his throat like you could have many months ago. You both dance around injuring each other, making the other’s life difficult, and fucking. You’re in love, please just accept it. I don’t care if you’re into BDSM and blood play or whatever freaky shit gets you guys off, but I would at least appreciate it if you kept it in your bedroom.”
Jongin nods from the back. “I just think it’s obvious,” he adds simply.
“Pff…Psh…Tch…I’m-I am appalled that you would talk to your Captain like this.”
“I know, I know. You could have us hanged, shot, thrown in the ocean, whatever…but the fact of the matter is that you aren’t going to do any of that, and you know that we’re right. Now, I’m going to go make sure Chanyeol hasn’t shot any of my men with any of my valuable pistols, and I’ll leave you to your duties, Captain.” Minseok nods his head with finality and exits the room.
Mutineer…
You glare at Jongin for ganging up on you. He flushes timidly. “I’m uh…gonna go see if Kyungsoo needs any help…Captain.” With a nervous smile he dashes from the room.
This is mutiny…
~~~
The ship sails southeast for days before anything alerts you all of the impeding first trial. The weather is normal, the water is normal, and then all of a sudden, the winds become violent.
“Captain, I think we’re getting close to whatever the first test is…” Yixing says tremulously.
The wind whips around you and the sails of the ship flap violently. There’s no way to tell which way the wind is blowing from as it whips from what feels like every side simultaneously. The ship tilts dangerously to one side.
“Junmyeon…that song telling you anything right about now?” You ask anxiously.
Your first mate looks out on the horizon with worried eyes. “We’re going the right way…” is all he says.
“Helpful,” Yixing murmurs sarcastically.
There is no visible sign of a storm; nothing seems out of the ordinary outside of the unnatural winds. The crew is already reefing your regular sails and raising the storm jib and trysail. If the winds get any stronger, which they will, they’ll catch your regular sails and capsize your ship before the waves even begin to hit.
“Who can man the helm? Who’s the best pilot on board right now?” you ask Yixing.
Yixing looks around a bit panicked. “I don’t know… I don’t know Captain.” The ship lurches to the side.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck…” you scan the ship. Most of the men are working on preparing the proper sails, securing any moving parts, and making sure the wind alone won’t turn the ship on her side. You see Baekhyun working with Wendy on securing lose lines. You haven’t talked to him since your lecture from Minseok all those days ago. “Junmyeon, go check to make sure we have enough ballast in the hold. We’re going to be rocking and we need to pray that we have enough weight to keep us as stable as possible.”
He rushes away; you try to think of what else you can do to prepare. There’s no way to tell how long this storm is going to last, how bad it’s going to be, and you would rather prepare for the worst.
A sea anchor.
“Johnny!” The boatswain is immediately at your side. “Take whoever you need and deploy the sea anchor. We should have one somewhere in the hold. I need you to work fast, but be thorough.”
The ship is going to have to sail against the wind and against the waves. The wind will push the ship off course, but to survive a storm like this the ship needs to keep its bow to the waves. If a wave catches the ship on her side or back, there’s no chance for survival. You’ll have to use your sea anchor and just pray that the Gods are feeling merciful.
“Baekhyun!” you shout. He turns immediately at the sound of your voice. “How good are you at the wheel?”
“I’m decent.”
“How’s your tracking? Your jibbing? Can you keep the ship from capsizing in this storm?”
He looks up in the sky when the sound of thunder shakes the floorboards. “My jibbing isn't the best, but I think I can keep her afloat,” he promises.
The feeling of static fills the air. The hair on your body rises to attention. Another rumble of thunder rolls across the ocean, louder than before. The sky is darker than it was 5 minutes ago.
There isn’t much longer until the storm hits.
“I need you at the wheel. I’m trusting my ship to you. Don’t let me down.” With a determined nod, Baekhyun is off. You see your first strike of lighting. Bright blue and not far off.
Chanyeol runs up to you to assure you that all of the cannons, ammunition, and artillery are properly secured. “Tell Minseok to get all his men below deck in the storm rooms. Secure any hatch and pray to the Gods that we make it through this,” you instruct. He nods and runs off.
When a storm hits, it hurts more than it helps to have people above deck. Three people would do the job just as well as all 20. Half of weathering a storm is the training and skill of the crew; and the other half is just pure luck.
The beginning patters of rain begin to pelt the ship. You run back up to the helm where Baekhyun has stationed himself.
The ocean gets choppy, picks up ferocity. The ship leans starboard. Baekhyun has never steered your ship, and truthfully, you have no idea whether or not he can actually steer through a storm. You’ve never seen him at the wheel of any ship in all the years you’ve known him.
“Do you think we’ll make it through this?” you ask.
“Honestly…I don’t know,” he admits. “We have enough sea room; we won’t crash into anything this far out. I just hope we can pick up enough speed before the waves start to grow.”
Junmyeon reappears, with Kyungsoo at his side, both out of breath. “We’ve prepared all that we can. The sea anchor is deployed, we’ve got a decent amount of ballast, the jib is ready to be backwinded, and the crew is all prepared for the rocking. What’s the plan?”
“Heaving to,” Baekhyun says simply. He swipes at his bangs, heavy with water and clinging to this forehead. “We keep the bow to the waves, keep close to the wind, and then lock the helm in place.”
“Won’t we broadside?!”
“No, if we were to lie ahull, we would broadside,” Kyungsoo supplies, blocking his eyes from the rain picking up in ferocity. “By heaving to, we can keep the ship from going parallel to the waves and capsizing. We’ll have to stay above deck to correct it if the wind or waves suddenly change. Since you’ve got a sea anchor we’ve got more chance of keeping the ship sailing straight into the waves rather than along them.”
“If heaving to doesn’t work, we try to run off downwind. As the wind increases we’ll have to slow down the ship as much as we can so that we don’t dive straight into the wave in front of us.” A bolt of lightning hits the waves. The rain gets harder.
“We would die…” You say unhelpfully. Lighting blasts in front of you and the waves crash angrily against the ship’s sides.
“Exactly. So if we run off, we’re going to need more than the four of us to throw whatever heavy lines you have off the stern,” Baekhyun’s voice rises to be heard over the increasingly loud winds and waves.
“As a last result, we’ll lie ahull and just fucking pray that when we capsize the ship holds for long enough to keep all of us alive,” Kyungsoo shouts.
You exhale shakily as another three bolts of lightning flash across the sky.
Poseidon be kind to us all.
You leave Baekhyun with the job of steering the ship against the waves that grow in size and power by the second.
At Kyungsoo’s instruction, Junmyeon is in charge of keeping the jib backwinded, and you reef the trysail as soon as it becomes clear that it’s going to be a hindrance in the grand scheme of things. Kyungsoo stands at Baekhyun’s side correcting course when he gets thrown off balance. Baekhyun does the same as Kyungsoo is knocked to the side in turn.
The waves become brutal, rocking the ship so hard that it’s nearly impossible to keep on your feet for more than 10 seconds at a time.
The wind finally sets in a single direction, fiercer than anything you’ve faced, and the general direction of the waves becomes apparent. The ship rocks violently from side to side and then immediately forward and back. You’re thrown into the foremast by the unexpected direction change with enough force to knock the wind out of your body. You gasp in pain. You get up on wobbling legs and try to breathe even as the water falls so fast and heavy around you that it feels equivalent to drowning.
You can’t see more than two feet ahead of yourself.
Think. Think.
There is rope at your feet, secured to the mainmast of the ship. You untie it with cold, wet fingers and hold it tight as you walk to the helm. The ship crashes into another large wave and you fall to your knees as water washes over the bow of the hull, covers the deck in freezing water and pitches the ship forwards. You stand up, shivering but determined. You tie the rope around your own waist to help you keep note of where you’ve come from.
Getting to the helm is a challenge, but you make it. Junmyeon is helping Baekhyun and Kyungsoo lock it in place.
“We should head below deck!” You shout as loud as you can. Thunder and lightning work in tandem to drown out your voice. To remind you of who is louder. Who has more power. You’re soaked to the bone.
Each man above deck is in a similar state. “We’re going below deck!” Junmyeon shouts. “We think heaving to may work.” The ship lurches dangerously to the right.
“Quick! Let’s go,” Kyungsoo screams, hair clinging to his forehead in inky black tendrils.
You use the rope to guide you. It feels as though you’re swimming through the air with the amount of resistance the winds and rain are putting up. Kyungsoo makes it to the hatch that leads below first. You follow behind, climbing down the ladder with shaking limbs. Water leaks through the boards, but it’s a welcome change from the brutality of facing Mother Nature directly.
You gasp for breath, finally able to breathe without also inhaling water, and look around the space for the ship’s emergency supplies. The ship dips, your stomach lurches.
Freezing water streams into the room from the open hatch above. You realize belatedly that there are only two of you in the compartment. Baekhyun and Junmyeon haven’t made it down.
You’re thrown to the ground when the ship dips without warning.
Clattering catches your attention as Junmyeon is swept into the room with a fresh rush of water. “Baekhyun fell overboard!” Junmyeon screams. He crashes against the ground. The sky screams.
What?
Kyungsoo turns away from opening the hatch down to a lower level of the ship to gape at Junmyeon’s words in horror.
Gasping, soaked, Junmyeon looks around the compartment frantically.
You’re moving before you have a chance to think.
You vaguely hear your name being called out from behind, but you don’t turn around. Rope still secured around your waist, you run, slip, stumble, over to the closest life boat. As fast as your shaking hands can work, you cut yourself free of the mainmast and tie the end of the rope not tied to your body to the dinghy.
You slice through the thick ropes holding the dinghy to the side of the ship with an urgency you’ve never felt. Water hits you head on, chilling you to the bone.
The final rope snaps and you and the dighy fall into the water with the force of landing on cement. Something is broken, but your adrenaline is pumping so violently that you can’t feel the pain. It doesn’t register.
Doesn’t matter.
You look around frenzied. The water is pitch black and moving too fast. The rain pelts your skin. It stings, burns, blurs your vision.
The waves are too big for him to survive out here on his own.
They’re too big for you to survive in your search for him.
The sky roars.
The waves crash, flip your boat once, twice.
You settle upright for the second time when, by the grace of the Gods, you see his white shirt illuminated against the dark water by a strike of lightning. You row frantically as a wave begins to swell. You nearly scream in relief when you reach him, but the sound dies as your heart sinks.
He’s not moving.
And he’s face down.
With all the energy you can muster, you pull him into your little boat. You take a few seconds you catch your breath, then you realize the height at which the wave has lifted you. It begins to cascade down; instinctively, you wrap your arms around Baekhyun’s unmoving form and brace yourself for the crash.
It’s dizzying.
It hurts.
It’s terrifying.
You hold your breath, close your eyes, hold onto the man in your arms with all you have, and wait for the water to stop jostling you around so violently. The water seems to calm slightly, so you open your eyes.
The water is dark, and then bright. Black, and then illuminated by lighting.
Your chest tightens as your need for oxygen reaches desperation. You maneuver yourself beneath the water enough to hold Baekhyun with one arm and swim to the top with the other.
You break the surface and gasp for air desperately.
You pull your rope and the boat appears at your side, thankfully upright. You lift Baekhyun aboard first, and then with heavy limbs, you topple on top of him. You don’t give yourself a chance to catch your breath before you’re leaning over him checking for signs of life.
You lower your ear to his chest. You can’t tell if he’s breathing. If his heart is beating.
“Come on Byun. Don’t die on me like this,” you beg. You repeatedly push against his chest, the way you were taught to restart a heart. After a few beats you press your ear to his chest again to listen for a change.
Nothing.
“Fuck. Come on…come on,” you pant.
You pinch his nose and lean down to cover his mouth with yours, filling his lungs with the air that he’s unable to take in on his own. His chest rises each time you exhale into his mouth. You go back to pumping your locked hands against his chest. A wave knocks you on your side. The boat stays upright.
You exhale into his mouth again, once, twice. You beg the rain to let up. You beg the waves to grow smaller.
You beg his heart to start beating.
He jerks and water spurts from his mouth. Relief hits you so hard that all the energy left in your body is expelled and you sag forward and land directly onto his chest.
You can finally hear the dull thumping of his heart. You can feel the shallow rise and fall of his chest.
At last, you can take a second to just breathe.
The small boat continues to jerk around, but it’s clear that the worst of the storm has passed. The waves now are shallow and choppy. The rain has lessened to nothing but a drizzle. The thunder rumbles farther and farther in the distance.
And Baekhyun’s heartbeat gets stronger.
You close your eyes, and let exhaustion overcome you, lulled into sleep by the beat of his heart and the rocking of the boat.
Y/N x CEO BAEKHYUN
First part 7k words
Will be more
PART 1 // PART 2 // PART 3 // PART 4 // PART 5
Hopping from one job to another, you really wanted to keep your position at Banking and Finance. If you would have to describe your perfect work environment, it definitely wouldn’t be at that stupid finance magazine that had the worst coffee machine in history. But hey, it did pay the bills, and that’s what everyone does, right? A perfect job doesn’t exist, right? A perfect life doesn’t exist, right? Only in cheap romantic comedies was life perfect, and you certainly weren’t in any. At least the last time you checked.
Tumblr media
Of course, you have secrets. Everyone has secrets. It’s completely normal to have a few secrets. They’re not even that big, to begin with. For example, you haven’t told your roommate it was you who lost her favourite sweater. You could have sworn you had last seen it hanging at your office, but it wasn’t there anymore. So now she thinks she misplaced it herself, and you were in the clear of her wrath. You also hadn’t told your parents you didn’t get the promotion because you were never even considered for a promotion. You simply told your family you were just too young for such a big responsibility. Still, your company would favour you when another spot opened up. Sometimes you just like to hide a few details in your favour. You were sure you would get the next promotion if you just worked a bit harder and read less horoscopes during the day.
“Hello Y/N, would you like the usual?” Your favourite barista asked you when you entered your local coffee shop. Ever since you started working at your company, you would get the same order every morning. It didn’t go unnoticed.
“Yes, please.” You quickly send him a grateful smile which made his ears turn a little red. Of course, you also liked the fact that said barista had a little crush on you. You’re flattered, to say the least, he was a handsome young man named Jungkook, but he was too young for you. He’s still in college for crying out loud. His mother still does his laundry.
“Coming right up.” And of he went making you a cup of coffee with the right amount of soy milk. Just how you liked it.
“Thank you so much.” You took your drink from his hand, and your fingers brushed for just a second, but you felt nothing. He was handsome, indeed, and if you were younger, your heart would have sped up, but there was just nothing there.
You walked the familiar route toward your office building. You worked for one of the top banking magazines, well they didn’t really call it a magazine, more like a weekly newspaper or something. You didn’t exactly know to be honest, but the most crucial part is that you have a job at a top company. You only lied about one or two things on your resume, it’s not like they check everything. It wasn’t even lying, you just added a couple of things you might not necessarily do every week, but sometimes plan on doing. You would most definitely like to invest, you just didn’t have the money or knowledge.
“Good morning, Miss Y/L/N.” The old security guy greeted you with a beaming smile. You have always been his favourite, and that’s only because you tell him to have a beautiful day from time to time. People who work in banking are most definitely not considered friendly or social or even human for that matter.
“Good morning, any wild plans for this weekend?” You asked him while you badged yourself in.
“My grand daughter’s first ballet recital is this Saturday.” His timid smile told you everything you needed to know, he was nervous.
“How lovely, wish her luck.” You told him while giving him a thumbs-up, he gladly reciprocated. He’s kind of your best friend in this building. Sometimes you even snuck out of the office to drink a cup of coffee with the older security guard, and he would tell you all kind of stories about his family.
Your company was located on the top three floors of the building. The other levels were some other magazines you had never heard of in your life. You just needed to remember you worked for Banking and Finance, a well-respected weekly newspaper. You had only started working here a couple months ago, well almost a year now. Before that, you didn’t really do anything with money, except for spending it on useless stuff like new boots. Boots you could never wear at your office because there is a strict dress code. Men should wear suits, and women should wear knee-length skirts and a perfectly fitted blazer in neutral colours like black, blue, grey,… you know: boring clothes.
“Y/N can you please look through this research about the acceleration…” your co-worker Mina started the moment you entered the workspace. She kept on going about acceleration, and you had no clue what the hell she was talking about. You have worked here for almost a year, and you still didn’t have a clue about banking and their accessions and analysis. You quickly learned to simply nod, remember a word and browse google with said word. You weren’t caught yet, so you must be doing something right.
“… also, can you please get me some coffee?” She ended her monologue while throwing some papers on your desk. You silently nodded, and she finally left you so you could take off your coat. This was a new record, you thought, you were in five minutes early, and you still couldn’t take a breather. The moment you entered was the moment hell began. With a soft sigh, you made your way over to the kitchen area to make you co-worker some coffee she could have easily made herself. News quickly spread that you were making coffee, so everyone wanted a cup. Lazy bastards. The coffee ain't even good.
“Y/N can you please come in?” Your floor manager asked you when you gave everyone their cups of coffee. With a quick nod, you made your way over to the manager’s own desk. You were all seated in cubicles, it was to monitor and motivate or whatever, while your manager requested a private office with a glass door, which he never really closed. What’s the point of a closed office if you never close the god damn door?
“How can I help you today, sir?” You asked him while he offered you a seat. He tried not to glance at your bare legs while you seated yourself and your skirt rode up a bit. It wasn’t exactly proven, but you thought he only hired you because of your looks. Not to say you thought of yourself to be the prettiest girl out there, but you were most certainly the only women under thirty that had applied for this job. It most definitely worked in your favour.
“I want to offer you a chance to grow.” He quickly started, trying to keep his eyes on your face and not your white blouse that might have been a little see-through if you looked really hard. Which he tried not to do.
“One of our top advertisers is hosting an event this weekend, and I would like for you to be there. To represent our brand and gain a few connections.” He began, and you were delighted he didn’t use complicated banking terms you had no clue about. This you understood.
“This weekend?” You asked him uncertainly. You had made plans with your roommate to binge desperate housewives while stuffing yourself with bad food you were not allowed to eat during the week. Or at least you told your roommate you never went to McDonald’s during the week. She didn’t need to know you liked your chicken nuggets every Wednesday. It is no crime to hide your bad habits from the people you loved.
“Yes, this Saturday afternoon. I booked you a flight for tonight, so you have maximal prepare time. Your flight back is Sunday morning. I hope you didn’t make any important plans this weekend?” He asked you suspiciously, as if he knew you had no intentions of doing anything this weekend. Well, not important plans, but they were fun plans, and you had to cancel them.
“No, not at all sir. I’ll be there at the event.” You fake smiled up at him before shaking his hand in fake enthusiasm. You really wanted to earn more money and get a promotion, but you really hated this job.
“That’s great Y/N.” He shouted after you when you exited his office, his gaze lingering on your ass. Pencil skirts were only designed to please men, and make women feel uncomfortable.
“What was that all about?” Your colleague next to you whispered. His name is Oh Sehun, and he might be as clueless as you are. He was really hired because of his good looks, and he knew it. He knew he was handsome, and he tried to get everything out of his good looks. He got a promotion after only three months at the company without actually doing any work.
“I’m going to an advertisers event this weekend.” You whispered back, barely hiding your proudness of the fact that you had been chosen.
“Oh, yeah I was wondering who he was going to ask to replace me. Good luck Y/N.” Sehun told you while returning his focus on his screen where he was playing some dumb cards game. It did hurt your pride that you hadn’t been chosen to do this particular task, but you could prove to  be better than Sehun. You could prove to your manager that you were ready for more and that you’re more competent than Sehun. At least you tried to remember some of the banking vocabulary unlike Sehun.
“Thanks.” You ended the conversation that had already ended for him. Looking over your desk, you noticed the research about the acceleration or something Mina had talked about only an hour ago, and you sighed. A deep and heavy sigh of someone who was lost in the woods and couldn’t find the highway even though they heard cars passing. That’s how it feels to be stuck at something you understand shit about. That’s life, my dad would say, just make sure that you can pay the bills. He should be a life coach, he’s very inspiring. Really.
“What should I wear? What kind of event is it going to be? Garden party? Cocktail party? High-class reception where everyone wears black party? Why didn’t they tell me?” You were sat in the middle of your room with all your clothes thrown around. Your best friend Jennie stood in your doorway with a shocked expression on her face. How could she be when she found you in this position every other weekend.
“Calm down, we can do this.” She took your arm and made you stand up. You were both standing there and staring at the mess you made in under five minutes. Never underestimate the power of a woman under stress. They can fly high and crash all at once. It’s beautiful.
“Why didn’t they tell me?” You screamed in despair while covering your face with your shaking hands. You wanted to drop down on your knees, but Jennie held you in place.
“Maybe you shouldn’t be so melodramatic. Just pack one of your work suits, a stylish black dress and maybe the cute new green skirt with white flowers if there is a garden party involved.” How did she always sound so logical? Why was she so put together? Why weren’t you like her?
“Don’t look at me like that, go and find the clothes I told you about and I will look for some shoes.” You quickly started looking for the clothes she told you about while she did her thing, organizing while in search of something. She’s a teacher, so she’s used to dramatic kids who can’t find their favourite pencil or something, so you were like a calm walk in the park compared to these kids. Well, maybe not a quiet walk, maybe more of a rushed morning jog through the park. Still better than fifteen screaming kids.
“I have a dark green suit. My perfect black dress that’s not work-appropriate but could be advertisers event approved. And I’ve got a blue summer dress if it is an outside event with fancy cocktails.” You proudly checked your mental list. This wasn’t so difficult after all.
“You also have a comfortable pyjama with you and enough underwear to be gone for two weeks. You’re good to go.” Jennie finished off your list while closing your black carry-on.
“Are you going to get changed into something more comfortable or are you supposed to wear a pencil skirt to travel?” She asked you eying you creased skirt and half open white blouse showing of your pink bra.
“I’m just going to change into some jeans and shirt, I’m not working while I’m on the plane, right? Work only starts tomorrow at the event.” You told her while looking for your favourite pair of jeans. You could have sworn you just saw them somewhere in here.
“Get changed. I’ll drive you to the airport to make sure you’re there on time. I don’t think I could stand you without a job again.” She jokingly replied before leaving your room.
“I did do all the laundry back then.” You yelled at her.
“Yes, and my white underwear is still pink because of it.” She yelled back at you, and the both of you laughed at the memory. Why isn’t there a class to be a good housewife? You know, some cleaning and cooking classes put together?
“I told you before, the machine did that, I didn’t do anything.” You said while walking through the apartment looking for your pants.
“Keep telling that to yourself.” She giggled while pouring a glass of water.
“I will.”
“Please put on some pants. I don’t need to see these extremely white legs of yours.” She commanded when she saw you shamelessly running through your shared place in pink underwear.
“I don’t know where they are.” You sighed defeated while plopping down on the orange sofa that took up whole your shared living space.
“They’re on your bed Y/N.” She sighed, and you quickly went looking for your best pair trying to avoid the stare Jennie gave you. Like you were some lost child who was in desperate need of some guidance.
“Are you ready? Do you have everything with you?” She asked you after she drove you to the airport. You nodded your head, trying to hide the sick feeling in your stomach.
“You’re going to be fine.” She finally said while giving you a hug.
“Of course, I’ll be fine, I’m Y/N, a fierce young woman.”
“That’s the spirit.” And with these words, she left you in the large departures hall of the airport. A place you hated. Let’s hope this is not going to be like the first episode of lost? Or worse, the Grey’s Anatomy crash in the woods episode. Lexie was your favourite. Rest in peace.
“Everything has been taken care of. Please enjoy your stay.” The receptionist handed you a card with a number on it, and you returned her smile.
“Thank you so much for your assistance.” You grabbed your things and made your way over to the elevator.
“Oh, miss Y/L/N, there will be a car ready at eleven AM to get you to your destination. Please be ready.” You simply nodded your head and pressed the elevator button. Room 303. That must mean you’re on the third floor. A ping sound awakened your internal struggles to stay awake after the short flight you just had. You were never really a big fan of flying, and most definitely not alone, but you’re still alive. That’s good enough for now.
“Hold the elevator, please.” A young man shouted before throwing his whole body into the small space. He hurriedly pressed a random button and regained his posture. His jacked had fallen off, but he didn’t do anything to fix it which weirdly irritated you. Usually you weren’t the nitpicking type.
“I’m sorry about that. I’m in a bit of a rush.” He finally noticed his blazer to be in a compromising position and fixed his appearance. He glanced into the mirror and was carelessly checking himself out. He did look good, but boy did he know it. His hands run through his hair as if it didn’t already look perfect.
“That’s okay, glad you made it safely into the elevator without losing a piece of yourself.” You deadpanned.
“That would’ve been a disaster.” He answered you with a big smile that would make most ladies faint, but somehow only irritated you. Luckily for the both of you this is a short elevator ride, and not a three hour car ride. He wouldn’t have survived.
“Slightly inconvenient as I’m in a rush to get to bed.” The elevator made another noise signalling your floor, and you gladly stepped out of the small space to get away from the self-centred man.
“I’m Baekhyun by the way.” You simply stared at him before the elevator doors close themselves. Why would he even introduce himself to you? You would hopefully never see him again, so an introduction seemed a bit unnecessary to you. Never mind the guy, there are more important things to worry about.
There had been a folder with information about the event and the advertiser. Apparently, it was an essential online banking thing, and the event would be something like a walking dinner, but at brunch time. So a walking brunch. In other words, the perfect occasion to wear your flowy blue dress as it didn’t seem too uptight of an event.
The phone in your hotel room rang, signalling your car would be ready in five. You quickly put on your shoes and grabbed your bag, making your way downstairs. You weren’t going to be late on your first solo event, you were going to be politely on time, so your company would look good.
“Hi there, going anywhere?” You turned around and looked questionably at the stranger. It was the man from last night. The man who introduced himself without reason. The man who knew how good-looking he was. You couldn’t disagree with him at this moment. He wore a light blue suit that would look ridiculous on anyone else, but somehow he made it work. He brushed the blazer behind is back and put his hand inside of his pockets. Underneath his fitted blazer was an even more fitted white shirt that left little to the imagination. You had to gather all your self-respect to not stare.
“I just like standing at the entrance of a hotel without having a reason whatsoever.” You told him while looking away from him. If someone saw the two of you now, they would think you matched outfits to go to a wedding. They couldn’t be more wrong, but you were annoyed by his perfectness. Why did he have to look so good? And why didn’t he leave you alone?
“What a coincidence, me too.” He said while he took place next to you. Not a word was exchanged, but there was something else. Awkwardness.
“So, where are you going?” He tried to ask you again.
“Something for work. I don’t exactly know where, but I know that a car was arranged to take me to my destination. “
“I’m not lying, but I’m in the exact same situation.” He tried to connect with your eyes, but you simply kept staring down at your dress. Maybe it might be a bit too short for a work event. You were quickly interrupted when a car stopped right before you and Baekhyun. The driver quickly got out and started to bow before us. Not a simple greeting bow, but an aggressive ‘I” m sorry” bow.
“Miss Y/L/N and mister Byun. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but is there a possibility if you two could share this ride? It’s the same destination, and we’re understaffed at the moment.” The driver seemed hesitant and scared of our reaction, and you immediately felt terrible for the guy.
“If it is the same final destination, I don’t see a problem with it.” Baekhyun told the guy right before opening the door. He looked over at you and motioned for you to get in.
“I can open my own doors.” You told him while entering the luxurious car. You hadn’t expected this from your company who always seems to be in saving mode. They could better spend the money from this car into a better coffee machine.
“A simple thank you would have been enough.” He whispered under his breath, but loud enough for you to hear. He quickly closed your door and made his way over to the other side of the car. You couldn’t help yourself to look at him. Even when he was simply sat in a vehicle while tapping on his phone, he had this presence that couldn’t be ignored, but you tried to.
The drive was short and comfortable, but your nerves kept you wide awake. This would be your first event, and not only your first it’s also your first solo event for a company you knew shit about. How do you represent a company when you don’t know what they stand for?
“Are you nervous?” The strange man next to you asked. There was genuine concern in his eyes, but you looked away. If he was going to the same event probably meant he worked in the sector. If he worked in the same industry, he would probably be a competitor. If he was a competitor, it would be best to hide all your weaknesses, or he could take down your company in a matter of seconds. Or worse, he could make you jobless again, and you weren’t ready for that.
“I’m excellent, but thanks for asking.” You kept your gaze focused forward, and your hands fidgeted with your short dress.
“You look great by the way. You’ll do great.” You felt his eyes burning your skin, but you tried to ignore the tension he had created with his statement.
“Thank you, but I will be great because of what I can, and not because of my looks.”
“I didn’t mean to…-“ but he was interrupted by the driver opening your door. You quickly made your way out of the car and tried to contain your surprise. The event was huge, and by huge, you mean it to be very claustrophobic. There were people everywhere in all shapes and sizes mingling and giggling.
“You might want to close your mouth.” Baekhyun told you while standing casually next to you. He didn’t seem to care about his surroundings. He’s probably used to these kinds of events.
“Let’s get our name badges.” He took hostage of your hand and guided you toward the entrance of the building. It was a modern building with glass walls and plants everywhere. Some people were smoking outside with a mimosa in hand. Others were inside enjoying the view while nipping on a fancy looking sandwich.
The event was too grand for you, and the worst part was that you felt underdressed. You have never been the type to underdress, but you’ve gotten so used to your boring office life, you made a mistake. Men were dressed in colourless suits, and women were dressed in fancy dresses in neutral colours. You checked your outfit in the mirror and cringed at yourself. You weren’t covered in a neutral colour, no you were clothed in a light blue dress that was on the shorter side with a girly floral pattern. The only design you spotted at the event were polka dots.
“You can go first.” Baekhyun whispered into your ear right before shoving you toward the table with badges. You tried to find your name, but couldn’t.
“Can I help you miss?” A nice lady dressed in a black pantsuit asked you. She glanced at you, and you knew what she was thinking. She doesn’t belong here, let’s help her.
“Are you here with mister Byun?” She eyed you up and down, and her eyes suddenly turned venomous.
“No, I’m with Banking and Finance. I’m replacing Oh Sehun for this event.” You ignored her glare.
“What’s your name?” You could almost hear the annoyance laced in her tone, but she really tried to hide it. What had you done wrong?
“Y/L/N. Y/N Y/L/N.” You told here with a bright smile she ignored.
“I see.” Was all that she said.
“Banking and Finance?” Baekhyun asked you while the woman was looking for your badge.
“Yes.” You answered his question.
“You don’t care where I work?” He turned his back toward the table with badges so he could look at you.
“I would like to see your badge first, so I know you’re not lying when I ask you.” You simply told him, and a chuckle escaped him. He looked like someone who got everything handed to him. He looked like trouble, and you couldn’t afford trouble.
“I don’t need a badge at these events. They all know who I am.” He stated with a smirk.
“Well, I don’t care then.” His mouth twitched, and you were pretty sure he was fighting a smile.
“Here you are.” The woman gave you your badge, and you thankfully accepted. You turned back to Baekhyun.
“It was nice to meet you, mister Byun.” You said, hoping he would understand that you wanted to leave.
“Pleasure was all mine miss Y/L/N.” He said before grabbing your hand and giving it a quick peck. You thanked him one final time and made your way inside the event.
People looked your way as if they knew it was your first time. Some people whispered to each other with a fake smile plastered on their faces. You tried to ignore the unwanted attention, but it was hard. Maybe a good mimosa would help you.
“So, who are you?” A man in a dark green suit asked you when you returned from the mimosa stand. He was tall, incredibly tall. The man was perfection in neutral hues; his hair and eyes were the colour of dark roasted beans, but his skin was all tanned. He was skinny, but the way his clothes hung gave away the muscle beneath, and in his wake were heads turning to watch him go. You quickly glanced at his badge and noticed the name of the investor. He must be important.
“I’m Y/N from Banking and Finance.” He seemed a little impressed.
“I’m Chanyeol, and this is my event.” He held out his hand, and you gladly shook his hand.
“You don’t look like someone who works in finance.” He simply stated, eying you suspiciously as if you had crashed his party.
“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint, but I’m a real employee of Banking and Finance.” You tried to lighten the mood, but this was the second person judging you from your looks.
“You must definitely do not disappoint.” You grew slightly uncomfortable, but as it was his party, you simply smiled.
“The event most definitely doesn’t disappoint.” You tried to change the subject.
“Thank you. I’ve recently discovered the true meaning of brunch, and I might say I’m obsessed with it at the moment.” He told you truthfully before taking a big sip from his mimosa.
“How come?” You said after nipping from your drink. You weren’t here to get drunk even though you needed the liquid luck.
“My mum does brunches, I thought it was something older people did, but I was wrong.”
“You couldn’t have been more wrong. The secret to a happy life is a good brunch paired with a delicious mimosa.”
“Ah, I like you already, but I have to leave. There is someone aggressively signalling me to get to the kitchen. I apologize.”
“No problem. If there’s an emergency in the kitchen, it is more important than anything and anyone in this room.”
“I’ll catch you later.”
Chanyeol had been the opening for many men to strike up a conversation with you. They never tried to talk to you about anything finance related. Some didn’t even ask you where you worked. Some couldn’t even keep their gaze on your face for longer than a minute, and you grew more uncomfortable as the hours passed.
“If you could, please excuse me.” You told the people around you. They simply nodded and kept their conversation going about something sports-related.
You quickly made your way over to an empty room. You were done with these people pretending to enjoy each others company. You were just fed up with people commenting you didn’t look like someone who could work in finance. You wanted to go home, but you promised your boss you would represent your company well. You couldn’t leave before dessert was eaten.
“You can do this Y/N. Just ignore these bastards.” You repeated to yourself in the dark room like a mantra.
“Everything okay?” Baekhyun asked you, standing awkwardly in the doorframe. You quickly tried to compose yourself, but nearly knocked something down. He came to your rescue and grabbed the expensive-looking clock before it hit the ground.
“I’m fine, thank you.” You grabbed the clock from his hands and put it back in place before returning to the party. You heard him say something, but ignored it and kept on walking. Chanyeol grabbed your attention and mentioned you to come over to him. He seemed to be speaking to some other young men in expensive suits.
“Miss Y/L/N, let me introduce you to some important people. Everyone this is Y/N from Banking and Finance…” and that’s how he introduced you to some influential people in the business. They asked you some questions about your function, but only out of politeness as they didn’t care about what you did. They conversed with each other leaving you out of the conversation unless it was something about the event.
You couldn’t have been happier the moment dessert came, and some people already started to leave. Chanyeol tied to convince you to stay longer, but you lied to him and told him you had to get straight to the airport as you were already late. He personally helped you book a car that would take you to your hotel in no time.
You needed a drink. You needed a massive drink that could calm your nerves. Luckily for you, your company had booked you a room in a hotel with a big fancy bar. You know that kind of bar where they serve every drink imaginable. Their menu had four pages dedicated to cocktails only, and you couldn’t have been happier. Well, you would have been happier if the event would’ve gone better. No one would remember the presence of Banking and Finance at this event, and that was all on you.
“What can I get you?” The bartender asked you nicely, and you simply told him the first cocktail that had caught your eye. Something with passion fruit. “Coming right up.” He said you before starting your drink.
Why were you such a mess? Why couldn’t you be smart like the others? Why couldn’t you just lock yourself up for a week and study everything you needed to know about banking. You don’t write any articles, you don’t get invited to big meetings because you’re known as research girl who makes coffee. The bartender gave you your drink, and you almost drank the whole thing in one go. He looked at you strangely, but you simply nodded your head. His hands immediately started to make you another, and you couldn’t care if he made you the same drink or something else. You needed the sweetness of the drink to remind you of good summer times with your friends during college. You needed the alcohol to burn your throat to tell you of the times when you were too drunk to function. Too drunk to be reminded of the fact that life sucks, and you really thought life would be better at this age.
You continued your drinking speed for a good hour, and four cocktails were already swimming in your stomach. You felt the light buzz, and your eyes started to wander. A man is drowning his sorrow in the elixir at one end of the bar, and a young couple flirts shamelessly at the other end with the nectar in hand. The drug seems to have very different effects, depending on the situation of its consumption. There’s a slightly larger woman in the corner table. She holds in hand a large beer, and there is a plate in front of her that seems to hold the remains of what was a serving of nachos.
“Miss Y/N!” Someone called out your name from behind you, and you immediately recognized the low voice of mister Byun Baekhyun, the devil himself. “I thought you were headed straight back home. Didn’t you have a flight to catch?” He asked you while seating himself beside you at the bar. He signed the bartender for a whiskey, and in under a minute he was drinking next to you. Uninvited.
“Aren’t you going to answer my questions?”
“Do I have to?” You took another nip from your drink. You really needed to drink more to ignore the annoyance you felt when Baekhyun was near.
“You can also tell me something about yourself.” He told you. The left side of his lip tugged upwards creating a sinister smirk on his god-like face; casting a spell of lust to eyes that dare look his way. You looked away.
“Please annoy someone else while I’m still asking nicely.”
“Bad day?” He asked you, all cockiness aside. Again he surprised you with a genuine interest in your wellbeing.
“You were there.” You finally gave in and turned yourself toward him almost falling from your chair.
“You were always surrounded by people. Isn’t that what these events are meant for?” He asked you with confusion in his eyes.
“If these people were interested in my work and my company it would have been fine. It could’ve been great actually.” You tried to explain to him, but he still didn’t understand your troubled mind. He thought you did well.
“They were interested in you.” He tried to reason with you. Boy, has he even spoken to a tipsy girl? You don’t just reason with them, you listen and silently nod.
“Yes exactly. In me, and not my company.” You started to grow more frustrated. Every sip you took from your drink got you more fired up.
“Do you like your company that much that you would let it steal your spotlight?” He asked you bewildered. He didn’t seem to understand why you would hide in the background.
“I don’t actually, but I would like for once to be appreciated for what I do and not for how I look like.” This got him to be more understanding.
“Well, tell me something about what you do.” His question caught you off guard. You ignored his stare while ordering a new round for the two of you.
“I don’t want to bore you.” You finally told him after a moment of silence.
“We work in the same field. I don’t think you can bore me that easily.”
“You’re doing it again.” You sighed, resting your head in your hands in defeat. Men just didn’t understand. They were always looked at with respect.
“What?” The liquor made his cheeks turn red, and you almost wanted to touch them. Almost.
“I want to bore you with my knowledge. I want people to look up certain words after they had a conversation with me. I want to bore people.” Your voice grew louder, but Baekhyun didn’t say anything about it. He seemed to be rooted in thought.
“Are you confident that you can bore me?” His voice sounded calm and collected, but his eyes showed an intense passion.
“Of course not.” You sunk lower in your seat while taking a sip from your new cocktail. That was your fifth in under two hours. New record.
“That’s your first mistake.” He firmly stated. He straightened his back when he realized you were intently looking up at him.
“What?” You asked him when he didn’t continue his inspiring monologue.
“You need to be more confident. You need to believe you can bore me with your knowledge. You need to be convinced that I will look up words on google after our conversation.”
“Look, thank you for listening and helping, but you can’t help me with being reasonable.” You turned away from him, hoping this would end the tiring conversation.
“What do you need me to do?” His gaze lingered on you, but it didn’t feel awkward.
“Don’t be reasonable.” You simply stated with your fingers wrapped around your drink like it was the only thing keeping you grounded.
“Is there anything else bothering you?”
“I hate my job Baekhyun. Everything is bothering me.” You spit out, and you immediately regretted your tone. You might not have been the nicest to the young man, but he didn’t deserve the attitude you were serving right now. He didn’t seem fazed by your rudeness.
“Why don’t you just quit your job?” The question was so damn simple but was so much more complicated to answer.
“It’s not that easy.” You finally said.
“How come?” His eyes tried to find yours, but you were deliberately avoiding his gaze. You didn’t want to see his pity.
“Because that would be my third failed career.”
“Some people need time to find out what they want to do in life. That’s okay.”
“It’s not. I’m almost in my thirties, and I’ve accomplished nothing.”
“I hardly believe that. What is troubling you?”
“I check other people’s research. I bring them coffee, and let me tell you something: the coffee isn’t even that good. It’s terrible. I refuse to drink that tasteless brown liquid. They spend money on a fancy car to drive me to an event, but they can’t even spend money on a better coffee machine…”
“… I’ve lied to get this job. I told them I spoke French and that I had experience in investing. Like what the hell would I invest in? A shoe? My bank account never reaches anything above 100…” You were on a roll. Baekhyun had opened the gates of your personal hell: the inside of your brain.
“…And don’t get me started on Oh Sehun. He barely puts in any effort, and I’m not saying that I’m an angel in that department, but I at least try to understand the shit people are saying. All he does is play card games all day long, and try to suck up to people…”
“…My parents are also so proud of my new job, and they tell me that everyday. I can not just leave something when it makes my parents proud. I’m glad they forgot about the time I wanted to start my own catering business. I’m still paying off all the debt that stupid thing caused…” You continued with the word waterfall that came out of your mouth unwillingly. Why didn’t you just stop? Baekhyun didn’t care, but he kept listening to your rambling.
“…How was I supposed to know that family got bankrupt right after the wedding I catered? How was I supposed to know?…”
“…I never told my roommate I slept with her boyfriend the day after they broke up. What kind of person am I? Who does something like that?…” His eyes stayed on your face, never scanning your body, and you felt oddly comforted.
“… Maybe I should give the coffeeshop guy a chance. He’s the only one willing to have sex with me when I wear these hideous and most importantly, boring outfits for work. He deserves an award for that, so I should just give to him right?…” He kept sipping from his drink while you had your meltdown, but he wasn’t judging. His eyes were unreadably, but there was no judgment in them. Of that, you were sure.
“… My ex is engaged! Can you imagine? That’s my second ex-boyfriend who got engaged with the girl that came after me. I did all the hard work of training him to be better, and she just got it for free. Without fights or dirty stuff in the bathroom. How does that make me feel? Well, let me tell you, I feel like shit that everyone I date seems to find the one after we break up. I had to explain to him that cumin in me doesn’t equal me having an orgasm for crying out loud. I did that for the other girl …”
“… My colleague Mina is the biggest bitch in the office. Everyone likes her and adores her, but she’d walk all over them to get what she wants. She knows I don’t know anything about banking, so she always gives me the most difficult tasks. I think she wants to break me, but I wont. I water her plant with coffee sometimes. I want the plant to die…”
“… Why does the coffee suck at work? Why don’t they give us something better? Coffee is a basic thing, you know. I deserve some good coffee…” You looked into his eyes and realized you had just blurted out all your secrets to a stranger.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to burden you with my problems.”
“I did ask what was troubling you.”
“I feel dizzy. I’m heading up. Until hopefully never.” You quickly got up and made your way to the elevator, ignoring Baekhyun’s calls. You were too embarrassed and too drunk to deal with him. You need sleep, and maybe a good cry. He tried to catch up to you in the elevator, but you pressed the button to close the doors.
Can I also get something off my chest 🥺
When I saw the first pic Baek uploaded - the one with the hat on - I had tears in my eyes. It really hit me then that he will be gone for two years and his birthday only made it worse. I know it sounds stupid but I really felt like saying goodbye to a good friend.
But today, when I saw these new photos with Sehun, I swear my heart melted 🥺 Baek looked so smoll and cute, but like - peaceful at the same time? Like „I’m okay, you should be too”. And although I’m still sad about him going away, I hope he gets his rest and comes back healthy. We will be waiting no matter how long it will take 💕
You can ALWAYS come here and get something off your chest my dear! ❤️ I love how you wrote “saying goodbye to a good friend” and that’s so lovely in a way 🥺 his brother’s post made me totally feel like sending off a good friend 😄
Right? He looked so cute with Sehun 🥺❤️ I really like his eye smile, he was adorable with the mask too. Sehun is such a good maknae, I feel like it was only fair that out of the Exos he would be the one to be there ^^ I felt a little empty in a way, because it’s also a huge step for Baek, not only for us. Imagine he had to live a major celebrity life and now he should be as normal and low-profile as he can be in an environment that probably won’t give two shits about his celebrity status (the trainers). Also Lee Hongki is such a loud-mouthed extrovert on TV but once he was out of military he was awkward on the camera. I wonder if Baek will be like that? He teased Minseok about being awkward but he might as well be too 😆
Can I tell you sth? My huge bias from 2pm, Junho, also did public worker service and he did quite a few times insta live but ofc he never showed himself. They weren’t too long either, just a simple chat. I loved those and I’m so naive but hoping at some point Baek would do that too 😭😭😭😭
Sorry my reply got unnecessarily long! I just don’t have anyone to chat about this!! >.<
Since I am in the midst of wedding planning, would love to hear what you guys think each of the EXO boys' wedding would turn out like (assuming their partners give them total control 😂)! But also an important lesson I learned: social distancing doesn't stop people from reaching out virtually to you so me time became so much more essential these days!!
teehee we’re still so excited for your wedding 🥺🥺🥺 and we had a lot of fun discussing this crackhead shit LOL – also you’re SO right. texting is suddenly blowing up and i’m like “time to check out” JKDSJFAKWE
Tumblr media
minseok ✧ i feel like he’s a great middle ground. he’ll keep you sane and handle the stuff that you don’t have time for, he’ll give valid and real comments, but won’t be controlling. it’s very much a team effort. unless you want like a candy bar or something bc “darling, that’s a little out there.” and you’re like minseok, have some FUN. live your best LIFE. but it’s ok bc he’ll get you everything you want as a surprise and you’ll cry like “omg” and he’ll just PREEN bc YES he IS the greatest husband 😌
luhan ✧ im sorry you’re giving HIM control? u want him to go into CARDIAC ARREST??? if you want your wedding to take place in a shack with 6 people attending, then sure, by all means, give lu control. but if not, please for the love of GOD do not ask him. he’ll put in comments every now and then (for cake flavors definitely or like. his tie color or some shit like that) but if you ask him to pick between maroon and rhubarb he’ll ERROR 404: LUHAN IS NOT RESPONDING. and just stand there like a mannuquein 😳😳😳
yifan ✧ oh christ don’t do that to him, he can only handle so much LOL. he’ll defintiely tag along for everything bc he’s clingy and he wants to see the dress/tux/whatever you pick and you’re like “it’s a surprISE YIFAN” but he does Not Care. but he doesn’t know the difference between silk or satin so he’s basically no help KAMFKSFJKE. he does pull up with the hella gaudy shit tho and you’re like “yifan you cannot have GOLD CHAINS as part of your outfit” and he’s like “but babe,, the swag” 😎
junmyeon ✧ ok myeon is the MVP. he’s like Peak Husband Material. he’s picky but sweet – makes sure you get what you want but isn’t a groomzilla u feel? like he’ll send that sickly sweet smile to the dress/tux assistant and be like “my love asked for the WHITE piece, not the IVORY, thank you :)” and they’re like “o-of course mr. kim!!” and you’re like “omg junmymeoN PLS.” but everyone loves him bc he tips well and is geniunely kind when he isn’t standing up for you LMAO 😂
yixing ✧ ok definitely another good balance one. he’ll let you know who he wants invited, what kinda traditional things are a Must Have, etc. but he’s SO SUPPORTIVE of what you want. like you can geniunely pick ANYTHING as long as he gets his like,, two small requirements. you could walk out in a trash bag and be like “i want this” and he’d tear up like “anything you want, baobei” and drop $4k to get a gucci plastic bag. deadass. and god he CRIES at the wedding bc you do SO well and keep his wishes in mind and WOW he loves u 😭
baekhyun ✧ ok he wouldn’t do a HORRIBLE job if you gave him all the control -- who am i kidding. your wedding would end up looking like a frat party. however, he do got POPPIN ideas. he will be zero help for the vital shit, but if you want some crazy shit, he’s the man. he’ll be like “ok babe don’t be mad -- i forgot to book the venue BUT i found a tiny dog tux for Mongryong so he can be our ring bearer what do you think!!” and for a moment you consider what it would be like to live in widowhood ☠️
jongdae ✧ the PICKIEST motherfucker. ik i mentioned that in the drabble i wrote you, but like i am SERIOUS. you will go to like twelve bakeries before he finally settles on some BASIC ASS FLAVOR like vanilla and you’re like “i might murder you.” but he makes sure you’re picky too so you get EXACTLY what you want and the day of, when everything is set you’re like Hol Up. this do be poppin. it’s everything you dreamed of and you DO be having to thank jongdae for his brattiness after all 😪
chanyeol ✧ honestly bold of us to assume he’d have any role in the planning bc he’s too busy teasing you over how seriously you take it all. to keep you from going crazy tho, he pulls a few pranks and you’re 🤏🏼 this close to calling off the wedding when he makes you think the decorations came in the wrong color or some shit. but on the acutal wedding day, he surprises you with a new song/dance and you realize he’s actually been taking care of something very important this whole time too ❤️
kyungsoo ✧ god you have chosen the BEST man to plan with. he’s so patient and attends EVERY appointment with you. he takes SUCH good care of you and makes sure you’re never stressed or piling too much on your plate. just a total gentleman. he’d book you a huge bridal/groom suite for the night before the wedding with white roses and all this cheesy shit and he would NEVER LIVE IT DOWN. and then when you think he can’t get any better he surpries you with a secret honeymoon trip and you’re like “god is real huh” 🙏🏼
zitao ✧ hahaha you think you GIVE him permission and he doesn’t just TAKE it? hahaha. that’s a GOOD one. prepare for the most extra reception and ceremony you have EVER seen. but don’t worry, you and tao will be the only ones who have any opinion on the planning. your friend will be like “what if you guys-” and tao’s like “did someone say something.” so by all means, tell him everything you want, bc he WILL get it for you. and on the special day he cries like a baby and you’re like AW bc u think he’s being all lovey-dovey but he’s just like “wow i did SO good” 😢
jongin ✧ wedding? did you mean an excuse for a huge party? do not, and i can not stress this enough, do NOT give him all the control. the second you do, he’s inviting every friend and family member to come help him bc he has NO CLUE what he’s doing. but it’s ok you keep them all in check and you’ll get what you want bc your manz is whipped. and when you and your wedding party get stressed, he just hands you $15k and is like “go on a shopping trip babey ily” and you’re like “maybe you’re not THAT bad, kim” 🤑🤑🤑
sehun ✧ he INSISTS on being included in every MINISCULE step. i mean EVERYTHING. and so you’re like “fine baby, what do you want?” and his mind goes blank. he truly has no opinion. no help whatsoever. you’re like “cream or ivory?” and he’s like “what’s that.” so he ends up flaking and you plan most of it – thankfully !! but when you walk down the aisle he SOBS and you’re like “ok fine you’re redeemed” 🥰
I have!! More!!! Within Castle Walls ideas!!!! Because I've been cooped inside for so long that my endless stream of consciousness has turned into constant internal shouting. Please send help. ANYWAYS Kyungsoo is the tutor, right? Well, get this what if the y/n for that story was a kindhearted dummie? A thembo if you will. Pure of heart and dumb of ass. Like, they don't know oven mitts exist so they almost burn their hands prying shit out of the oven whenever they cook. They're convinced chocolate milk comes from brown cows. Every year they ask when Christmas is as if it would ever change. And all the while Kyungsoo is just like "good LORD they're so stupid why do I dream of kissing them beneath the milky twilight"
- Theatrical Gay Anon
I'VE GOT ANOTHER IDEA FOR WITHIN CASTLE WALLS! Okay, so, you know how you made Junmyeon a musician?? What if he was like, the musician the Queen and King hired to entertain themselves but woopsies! He ended up falling for one of the royal family members or the royal staff or something and because this is Junmyeon we're talking about he became very protective and nurturing around them and basically became their unofficial bodyguard which pissed off the actual royal bodyguards cuz he's trying to do their job for them lol. He'd probably be in denial about it too which would just make it funnier.
Sehun, an actual royal guard: Dude wtf you're a musician quit stealing my job!
Junmyeon: *literally takes a bullet for the love of his life* I have no idea what you're talking about.
*gets out of vampire coffin* OKAY, I'VE GOT YET ANOTHER WITHIN CASTLE WALLS IDEA. Since Jongin is the Royal Tailor, I think it might be fun in a hopelessly sappy sort of way to have him fall for a commoner/peasant type that he lovingly makes beautiful clothes for. And like, sometimes he almost gets in trouble for this cuz ppl will see him working on this incredible jewel toned silk garment and they're like "oh wow this is lovely is this meant for the King?" And Jongin just sits there sweating nervously like "HAHAHA YEP, THAT'S TOTALLY WHO I'M MAKING THIS FOR HAHAHAHA"
Tumblr media
AHHHH thank you sweet bean! I love all of these ideas 😄 I’ve already got outlines for most of the fics but I’ll definitely take these and see if I can work them in/save them for inspo for other fics. You are the kindest and so wonderful to send all this excitement my way. Please know I appreciate you so much and I hope you’re having a great day! 💖
It's the 💙 Anon here, so, first of all, be prepared for a long ass text and my shit english. (I'm so sorry for you, but you was the one that asked 🤷🏻)
In the first place, when I came across this type of AU, I was taken a back. I don't know If was the prejudice from Twilight, but I always thought it was some kind of weird fetish?!? (Sorry, but I already paid for that). Anyway, when I started reading the Untamed Series, I was looking for some Suho fics. I had already read the Sins Of The Father, so I thought that I should at least give It a try. So Suho was the first one that I read.
I guess most woman (I said most, not EVERY) dream with the guy that put her above everything, wants to protect her, be with her all the time. That will be loyal and faithful, you can trust on him with your life, and make you feel unique and desired. That's what make me like the AU for itself.
For your writing:
1: Every character has a background, their own personalities, and normal lifes with jobs and school. Even the real people problems. The mates are so different from each other, they're strong and brave. This make us closer to the characters.
2: How much you describe the tiny little things making us picture all the scenes, It's amazing and magical like in one real book.
3: All the stories connect with each other, the references always linking then togheter. Some even occure at the same time.
4: Well, we are talking about 12 members, so 12 different stories. So fucking much criativity.
5: All the slight suggestive stuff 😏
6: Everything It's so detailed that you even put names e and gave faces to the mates. Once I read this fic series with BTS that where connected and the protagonist from one storie would talk to other protagonists. But they don't have names, neither faces. Was kind of confusing.
For my favorite storie It's Suho (obiviously because he's my favorite). Tao's storie It's the second one, but I also like the more complicate ones. Like Jongdae, Luhan and Sehun. Even Kris one are a little dramatic, but I like It.
On Sehun's storie I like that the protagonist actually chose the villain side and even confessed that Sehun had hurt her, showing us that no one It's perfect. It's not a faitytalle, It's real life.
Overall, It's the the whole thing, your writing It's definitly the best I have read until today. You could write actual books, you would became a best seller.
Hope you can undestand what I was trying to say and that I don't stated the obvious. It's hard to express some feelings in english.
💙 Anon
I am so happy that you sent this in to me. I really mean it when I say I love getting detailed feedback. It helps me improve and see what people like and what they don’t like. Also? Serotonin. I snorted at “some weird fetish” because I don’t think that word has ever been associated with my blog. (Please don’t take that the wrong way, I don’t mean that rudely, I really just found it a little funny!) I will agree that a bit of the wolf/mate au trope is having that sense that you’re the only one in the world and that the loyalty is there and unshakeable. Which is something that I, too, really enjoy from the genre. (I’m a softy romantic so I need that to feed the feels).
I love that you enjoy the backgrounds and the side stories of my series. My big thing with my writing is I want it - despite the genre and supernatural elements - to be realistic. I want things to make sense and to have a sense of it really happening. For characters to be more rounded, they need outlining stories and pieces that make them more whole. I enjoy placing them in the stories and expanding (they also help expand the word count *cough*). Putting in the details came from some of the best advice I’ve ever read for a white: avoid the white room. If you don’t explain where your characters are or what’s happening around them, they might as well be in a boring white room. (also, again, word count).
I will not lie, it has been hard connecting all the stories and writing them so they all make sense in the chronological order and build off each other. Especially since I started off the series not really thinking that it would be a series. I thought it would Jongdae’s story and done. Once the popularity hit and people asked for sequels, I had to start the gears. I only planned about a story or two ahead, which I think was the better decision for me because even while writing the story, I was making changes and adjustments, which definitely affected stories later down the line. Creating 12 different stories without repeating myself and becoming boring was difficult. Especially by the time I got to Sehun’s. The big finale. I knew I needed to get out a story that was really different but could also connect back to Jongdae’s in a way. As for the, uh, suggestive stuff... I may not be comfortable with smut, but a girl likes a nice make out too....
The face claims for the mates came about halfway through when someone simply asked if I had certain people in mind when I was writing. I knew as I started Kyungsoo’s story, I needed names to keep things from getting confusing, especially since I was adding in the ex-members too. Putting the face claims together was a lot of fun because it actually helped me reinforce their personalities and making them even more different and distinct.
I love Suho’s was your favorite. I loved writing that one along with Kris’. (I know his got a little dramatic with the rejection, but I got a little self-indulgent with that one...) Tao’s was just so much fun to write because he’s a sassy brat but also has a heart of gold. That kind of contradiction is so great to work with. Playing with Sehun’s mate and having her be more gray and confused and hopping back and forth across the line really helped me grow as a writer because I’ve never written that kind of character before.
Thank you so much for sending this in to me and for such kind words! I really really appreciate you taking the time to send this in to me. Being a best selling author is my big dream and I hope to get there someday. The fact that you already believe in me in that way means so much!
Step Family AU
“So what do you talk to your therapist about?” Kibum asks that Sunday morning, leaning against Taemin’s doorframe. Taemin only rolls over on his bed and groans.
“Go away.”
“What do you talk about?” Kibum presses, stepping into the room.
“What do you care?”
“Do you talk about me?”
Taemin looks at him with the only eye that’s visible from beneath his blankets and pillows. Kibum can barely see the kid’s face, but the way his eye moves tells him enough.
“Get out!”
“What, what do you tell her?” Kibum asks, moving even closer. Then he continues in a high, snotty voice, “He’s the meanest big step-brother ever, I hate him, he’s so mean to me.”
“Get! Out!”
Taemin pushes off his blankets and rolls out of bed to shove Kibum away.
“Kibum is so mean all the time! I wish I was an only child! Wah wah wah!”
“Leave me alone!” Taemin shouts, and he shoves Kibum hard enough to get him out of the room and then slam the door.
It puts them both in a bad mood all day. By three o’clock, Kibum is texting his mom relentlessly to come pick him up.
Two months later, it’s the fifth time Kibum is forced to sit in the therapist’s waiting room while Taemin has his dumb session. He thought this was only a few sessions, that Taemin would be done with it by now. He’s apparently on session number nine or ten, how many of these does he need?
“If you’re gonna keep bringing him to the crazy doctor, can you not just let Mom pick me up from school instead?” Kibum snaps when they walk in. Taemin’s head ducks down, and it gives Kibum a weird satisfaction to see him so embarrassed, but Jinki looks livid.
“Stop it,” he says carefully. “Be nice. It’s one hour, it won’t kill you to wait.”
Taemin practically runs into the back when he’s called in. Kibum rolls his eyes.
“You know,” Jinki says, his voice tight, “it might benefit you to see someone as well. Your mother and I were talking about it just yesterday.”
“I’m not some lunatic like he is,” Kibum hisses. “I don’t need to go spew my feelings to someone like that little emo freak.”
“Cool it,” Jinki warns him. “Do not talk about him like that. Do you understand?”
“Whatever.”
Taemin’s eyes are rimmed red when he comes back out an hour later, and Kibum wants to make fun of him for being a crybaby, but the look from Jinki tells him he’d be getting more than just grounded if he started making fun of the loser. When Jinki tries to put a hand on Taemin’s shoulder, Taemin shrugs it off violently and stomps away to go to the car.
Dinner that night is tense, and it’s more than just Taemin and Kibum making faces at each other when their parents aren’t looking. There’s something obviously wrong, but Kibum can’t pinpoint what it is. Minjung had started filling all of their plates before dinner the last few times Kibum was over, which was unusual. She usually just put everything in the middle and let you grab whatever you wanted. Taemin looked angry, and for a moment, Kibum swore he looked scared. He also was mostly pushing his food around his plate, enough for Minjung to whisper softly for him to stop.
“I’m not hungry,” Taemin mumbles.
“Taemin, please,” Minjung says softly. “Just a few more bites.”
“I’m not hungry,” he whines.
“Oh my God, stop being such a crybaby,” Kibum snaps. “Just eat it.”
“Shut up!” Taemin screams at him, and he flings his whole plate ate Kibum before bolting to his bedroom.
“What the fuck is his problem!” Kibum shouts.
“Kibum-”
“You’re gonna let him just do that shit to me? That’s so unfair!”
“Maybe it’s best if you went back to your mother’s,” Jinki says gently.
“What, now it’s my fault he’s a psycho?”
“No, it’s just - now isn’t the best time-”
“Oh, so you don’t have time for me anymore? That’s real nice.”
“Kibum, that’s not-”
“Whatever, I’m gonna go call Mom. I don’t wanna be here anyway.”
Kibum stomps down the hall to go to his room. When he passes by the bathroom he and Taemin share, he can hear the kid gagging from inside. Kibum thinks he’s just being a drama queen.
Boa picks him up twenty minutes later. Kibum doesn’t miss the way all the adults look behind exhausted, but he convinced himself he doesn’t care. He just wants to go home.
“They’re going through a lot right now,” Boa says softly on the drive home. “With Taemin. It’s - a very delicate situation.”
“Because Taemin is so gentle, right?” Kibum says with a snort.
“Kibum,” she says, her voice still soft and edged with worry.
“Don’t tell me you’re falling for his bullshit too?” Kibum whines. “Did you not hear what Dad said to me? They don’t have time for me! That’s fucked up!”
“It’s not that they don’t care about you,” she tells him. “But this is something very serious, and it needs to be taken care of as quickly and carefully as possible. To get you mixed in with everything wouldn’t be good for you.”
“What is so wrong with him?” Kibum snaps. “Is he finally going psychotic? I could have told you he was a little asshole lunatic years ago!”
“That’s also why getting you involved wouldn’t be good - for anyone,” she says, her voice flat. “You can be very antagonistic towards him. I wish I knew why, so I could help you, but it’s not good for either of you to be so mean to each other all time.”
“Whatever.”
“You might not go to your dad’s much for a little while,” Boa says. “But we’ll still see them. They’re still family, and we all still love each other very much.”
“Sure we do.”
Boa sighs, but she doesn’t say anything else on the matter.
The next Monday, there’s talk at lunch about how a seventh grader apparently fainted during gym class. Sure enough, Kibum sees Minjung’s car pull up and watches her rush into the main office, only to bring out a very pale, very annoyed looking Taemin a few minutes later. He’s got two big, red scrapes: one on his right arm, and the other on his right leg. Kibum has heard he fainted while running laps on the asphalt. It wasn’t even hot out. What a drama queen.
“Isn’t that Taemin?” Woohyun asks. “Do you think he’s the kid who fainted?”
“Probably,” Kibum snorts, turning back to his lunch. “Probably just doing it for attention.”
Woohyun looks at him, but doesn’t say anything else.
That Wednesday, there’s a rumor that a different seventh grader fainted during gym. During his lunch period, Kibum sees Kai going home with his own mother. That’s odd. Maybe they just both got sick or something?
Kibum puts the fainting thing out of his head. It had to be for attention. Taemin and Kai both take dance class together, they probably thought it up together as some weird prank or something. They’re both losers. That’s all.
A month later, Kibum is waiting after school for his mom to pick him up. He hasn’t been back to his dad’s at all in the last few weeks, but they have had dinner together as one big annoying blended family a couple times. Taemin hardly ate anything either time, and when any of the adults tried to coax him into eating more, it would just set him off and make him start arguing with them. He never got in trouble for it, that Kibum could tell. What a double standard.
But then as Kibum is walking along with Woohyun, he sees Taemin sway a bit next to Kai. His hand his holding on tight to Kai’s arm, but then his eyes roll back and he’s hurtling towards the ground and Kibum’s breath hitches. Taemin passes out right there, on the cement, the only reason he doesn’t crack his head open is because Kai held him and lowered him down as gently as he could.
“Taemin? Taemin!” Kai calls, panicking and lightly tapping Taemin’s cheeks.
Kibum doesn’t know why, but he rushes over to check on the kid. He even kneels down and puts his backpack down so he can get a better look, even takes his sweatshirt off to put it under Taemin’s head.
“Hey, loser, wake up,” Kibum says, his voice shaking. Then he snaps his head up at Kai. “What happened?”
Kai just shakes his head, his lips trembling.
“We have dance after school,” is all Kai says, his voice shaking.
“So what?” Kibum snaps.
“Kibum? Kibum, is that Taemin?” Boa calls, and she gets out of her car after parking it on the side and rushes over. “Kibum, call Minjung and ask her who’s picking Taemin up today, and if it’s her then tell her to come right here. If it’s your dad, call him instead.”
A small crowd is forming, but the fact that a parent is there seems to be keeping most people at bay. Taemin groans just as Kibum tells Minjung what happened, and he blinks a few times and looks at Boa with a very confused look on his face.
“Taemin? Hi Taeminnie, it’s Auntie Boa,” she says gently, holding his hand. Then she asks in a very soft voice, and Kibum can hardly hear her, “Can you tell me what you ate today?”
“I have dance today,” is all Taemin says, and he sits up even though Boa tells him not to rush. Kibum can’t figure out what dance class has to do with any of this, but it’s starting to piss him off that he can’t put it together.
Minjung rushes over quickly, and she looks frantic and worried and like she might cry.
“You’re not going to dance today,” she says as she brings Taemin to the car.
“No, Mom, I have to!”
“Taemin, you’re passing out! Do you not see what this is doing to you?”
“I have to!”
They’re already too far away for Kibum to hear anything else, and Boa just tells him quietly to get in the car.
“What does dance have to do with him passing out?” Kibum snaps. “What is going on? Or you just gonna keep telling me I can’t know?”
Boa sends him a look; it’s soft and full of worry and exhaustion. Whatever’s going on is making all of Kibum’s parents freak out, and he’d like to know now. He’s tired of being kept in the dark.
“You cannot use this against him,” she warns him as she starts driving towards the elementary school to pick up Sehun and Yeri. “I’m serious, Kibum. I don’t even want you saying anything to him about it, so you understand?”
“Okay, okay,” he scoffs. “Will you just tell me what’s going on?”
Boa sighs, and her grip on the steering wheel is so tight her knuckles turn white.
“Taemin and his friend Kai, they’re both in the same dance class. You know that.”
“Okay, yeah, so?”
“They’ve been having - issues,” she says gently. “The dance world can be very cruel. Very harsh. It’s part of the reason we pulled Yeri out of it last year.”
“I thought she just didn’t like it anymore?”
“Well, that too.”
“So what’s so harsh that has him fainting at the drop of a hat?” Kibum scoffs. Then he snorts, “What’s he doing, starving himself?”
The way Boa’s breath catches sends a pang in Kibum’s chest.
“Taemin loves dancing,” she says, her voice shaking. “You know that. He’s such a perfectionist about everything, and then a few other kids said some things to him and Kai. They’re getting older, their bodies are changing, they’re boys. I don’t know all the details, but the two of them have apparently been trying to become very, very thin. They think it will make their dancing better. That they’ll be better if they’re thinner. And poor Taemin - he was already so skinny, I can’t imagine what’s going on in that head of his.”
“When did this all start?” Kibum asks, his voice quiet.
“We’re not quite sure,” she admits. “But it came out when Taemin started seeing this therapist for those poems. Turns out it apparently had nothing to do with his father, but I’m not sure if that ever got completely solved. The eating became the new focus, since it was more concerning.”
Kibum doesn’t know how to feel. He doesn’t know what to do. What to say. But then they’re picking up Sehun and Yeri, and it’s not a conversation they’d have around the little ones anyway.
When Kibum is walking to class the next day, he sees Taemin leaving his lunch period and throwing out a whole, full brown bag of food. He and Kai both. Kibum doesn’t know what to do.
this is.....unedited and also kind of a mess bc i haven’t slept in.....too long, but @honiboyyoon kept sending me yoongi posts and also daddy dom yoongi posts specifically so blame her for this absolute fucking FILTH
a/n: DEFINITE SMUT, choking, daddy kink, spanking, choking, belt spanking, choking (there is seriously so much choking its a little ridic), dirty talk, jealous yoongi,
You legitimately love your boyfriend. Six years together and still, he's perfect. Surprises you with breakfast in bed, buys you little things he sees that he thinks you might like, wakes you up at the ass crack of dawn to drive four hours and take a ferry across the ocean just to go to an aquarium you passingly mentioned you would cut your own leg off to go to. And he's adorable at the aquarium, too, letting you run around with wide eyes and not getting upset when you inevitably lose him in the crowd (even if you did find him glaring at some stingrays because, you quote, "Some of us still remember Steve Irwin, princess. Never forgive, never forget.") He looks utterly ridiculous, and you’re not really sure what about the all-black-with-a-pierced-baseball-cap-and-flannel look gets you hot and bothered, but it does. Maybe you should be ashamed of that, but honestly, Yoongi looks literally edible and you’re not one to question it when your boyfriend looks so good. That doesn’t stop you from teasing him, though - “Seriously, Yoongi, what kind of emo bitch wears that shit in public,” “Clearly I do, princess, now stop running that mouth, didn’t you want to see the seals,” “Fuck, yes, I gotta get a recording so I can play it whenever Seokjin laughs,” - and you’ll never admit how much you like it.
The rest of the time you're there is a delight. Yoongi grumbles about how you might pull his arm out of its socket with how you're dragging him away, but tightens his grip every time you start to pull your hand away. The entire time you can’t help but look at him, watch the way he moves and the grin when he pets a turtle, how he helps a kid pick out a hermit crab and then sends pictures to Joon of them. It’s not lost on you how his eyes linger, either, completely focused on you as you watch the sharks roll above you and beaming when you see the octopus try to steal extra fish from its handler...the way you maybe, just maybe, shake your ass just a little when you bend over to pet an otter. You stay until the aquarium closes and get dinner at a restaurant close by, and it only gets worse.
Yoongi's always been tactile. Even when the two of you were just friends dancing around each other, he would give you hugs and rub your back and let his thigh press against yours without any second thoughts. It's who he is. You know this, you love this, you find it pretty cute most of the time. There are times, though, when it's not...cute.
Like when he leaves his hand, hot and heay, on your upper thigh as he drives to the restaurant so you remember every single time he’s fingered you while going somewhere. Or when he opens the door so you can enter first and lets out a low whistle as you pass him, and when you turn to scold him, his eyes quickly dart back up to your face. Or like when he hooks a foot around the leg of your chair and uses muscles you tend to forget he has to pull you closer. You can see the strength in his thighs as it flexes under his jeans and it makes goosebumps break out across your skin. He doesn't move his leg, keeps it right between your own with his ankle pressed against yours, hooked around your chair, and something about the pose makes you shiver.
"Why aren't you eating, princess?" He asks as he brings a piece of sushi up to his own mouth. You mumble something unintelligible, focused on the way his tongue darts out swipe up a bit of soy sauce before his lips close around the food entirely, pouting as they do. You're torn between the desire to pinch his puffed cheeks and the need to beg him to repeat the action on you. You can feel yourself getting wetter at the very thought; you always get worked up when Yoongi is sweet to you, it's something all your friends tease you for, and today is the exact opposite of an exception. Taking you four hours and a ferry ride away from home just to take your nerd ass to an aquarium because he knows you'd like it? You're ready to get on your knees and show your appreciation, however he wants for as long as he wants it.
Someone calling your name startles you enough that you jump a little. Turning, you grin when you see a friend from college - fuck if you can remember his name right now, Hyunwoo? Hyungsoo? Hongbin? Whatever it was - waving at you. He’s taller than you remember and when you give him a quick hug you find he’s filled out nicely in the years since you’ve last seen him. Whatever-His-Name-Is looks nothing like the dweeb from your study group anymore, and as you chat with him, he’s clearly still just as nice as he was back then. You even introduce him to Yoongi - and find out his name is fucking Sehun, you must be a dumbass - who looks decidedly less content than he did a few minutes ago. You wave Sehun goodbye when a woman appears and drags him off to their table, but even after you sit back down, Yoongi’s not happy about something.
He’s silent as the grave and you realize at some point during the 5.7 minutes you were talking he’s straightened up and no longer has his legs sprawled about. No, they’re now tucked neatly under his chair, as far on his own side of the table as he can get them. He stabs at a piece of meat, tearing into it much more aggressively than usual, and you narrow your eyes at him.
"Are you okay?" You ask him eventually, after watching him pick up some onion so roughly that the table shook a little. He doesn't answer, just shrugs, and you frown. His irritation isn't lost on you, you're just not sure what you did to cause it. After six years of being together and almost ten of being friends, you know him pretty well, and as you replay the entire day in your mind, you can't find any of the things that usually push him into a mood.
He's still irritated when you both leave the restaurant, one hand gripping the wheel tightly while the other violently switches gears. You wait until he parks at the hotel to try again.
"Yoongi?" You say quietly. "Will you talk to me? I don't know what I did wrong." He huffs and exits the car, and you quickly follow suit. He pulls a suitcase out of the trunk and huffs as he locks the car. He walks quickly through the parking garage, must faster than you're used to, and you rush to keep up. He doesn't say anything as he heads into the lobby, or as he gets the room key, and the silence hangs in the elevator until you can't take it anymore. "Seriously, Yoongi, I don't know why you're mad, I didn't do anything."
He whirls on you with fire in his eyes and it freezes you in place.
"You think that helps?" He growls, closing the distance between the two of you, and catches your chin between his thumb and forefinger. "You don't even know how you fucked up, princess. You really have no clue?" You shake your head.
"I really don't," You whisper. He slides a thumb across your bottom lip. Your tongue darts out to wet the skin and he groans almost imperceptibly. The sound makes heat pool between your thighs. He pulls away as the elevator door opens and he strides out. He doesn't wait for you and doesn't slow until he gets to the door with your room number on it.
After it's closed behind you and you're sure it's locked, you turn back to him. He stands in the middle of the room, back to the bed as he strips his jacket off and tosses it to the couch nearby. You wait patiently as he crosses his arms and then turns to you.
"Come here," He commands. You comply immediately. "Do you know what you did yet?" You shake your head, pouting up at him in the hope that it would encourage leniency. He tsks and shakes his head. "Strip. You don't deserve these nice clothes, princess."
You're naked as quick as you can be, clothes strewn about the room in your haste to get them off. He's upset, and you don't know why, but you know better than to make him wait for something when he's like this. You’ve been ready to give it up to him all day, and seeing him in his commanding persona only increases the feeling tenfold. Heat rushes to your core once again and you rub your thighs together in an attempt to alleviate some of it.
He notices the action immediately, smacking your thigh with his palm. "Look at this," He sighs. "So fucking wet and I haven't even done anything yet. You're such a little slut, always so ready for me." He steps slightly closer, letting his fingers dance along your slit. You don't move and don't make a sound, just let your eyes flutter closed for a brief second. He growls and slaps a hand across your ass.
"Unless it's not for me. Keep your eyes open, slut. I'm the one here right now." You shiver and look at him. He's still fully dressed, which only makes you wetter. He knows you love it, the power dynamic it creates. "Get on the bed, princess. Face me, on your knees."
You do as he says, the bed plump and soft beneath you as you sit back on your knees. Yoongi looks good like this, even with the fire in his eyes, but you're distracted by his hands. The long fingers, the sheer size of them, the way they drag ever so slightly against the leather of his belt as he slides it out from around his waist. You shudder at all of the things he could do with it, and you don’t miss the way he smirks.
“I try to do something nice for you,” He says in a too-controlled voice as he steps closer. “Take you somewhere fun, buy you good food after. I even let you sleep on the way here so you’d be rested for our little adventure. And what do I get in return?” He folds the belt over on itself, and you clench around nothing at the sight. You know what’s coming.
“I’m sorry, thank you, Yoongi, I enjoyed-” You whimper as his belt makes contact with one of your thighs, the sting settling into the skin and turning it pink.
“What did you call me?”
“I’m sorry, Daddy, I won’t do it again.” His expression softens for just a moment, long fingers rubbing soothing circles over where he hit.
“You know I don’t like punishing you, princess,” He purrs, one hand across your throat for a brief moment so he can stroke his thumb along your cheek. “But I was so good to you today, and then you just…” His jaw tightens and your heart flutters at the sight. You should probably be a little apprehensive, but fuck, he’s so hot. “Bend over.”
You follow his instructions, doing your best not to shiver when he runs a hand over your ass. “You have ten seconds to tell me what you did wrong, princess. If you can’t, you’ll be the one counting to ten.” He starts counting down immediately and your mind scrambles. It couldn’t have been when you accidentally left him behind at the jellyfish, because he was still fine at dinner, and even when you threw a handful of rice at him he laughed so that wasn’t it either, but then maybe-
The sound hits your ears before the pain registers, but you manage a muffled, one, because you know better than to do otherwise. His hand comes up again, rubbing the sting away. The next hit lands on the other cheek, and it’s a feat not to flinch or moan when you call out, two.
It continues, all the way to ten; Yoongi alternates between your cheeks and the backs of your thighs, which is going to make the car ride home an absolute nightmare, but you suppose that’s the point. You’re absolutely dripping by the time you call out a weak ten, your wetness trickling down your inner thigh and your ass and thighs no doubt red and swollen even as he runs his fingers along the skin in soft circles.
“Good, princess?” Yoongi asks quietly. You don’t trust yourself to speak, but you manage what has to be the most enthusiastic nod anyone’s ever given. He chuckles under his breath and metal clinks as his belt hits the bed beside you. He lifts you up to lean against his chest and wipes away the stray tears you couldn’t keep back. “You did so good, baby. You always take your punishments so well for me. Can you tell me what you did to get punished?”
“No, Daddy, I’m sorry, I don’t know, but I won’t do it again, I promise.” Yoongi ‘hmm’s and nods slightly, looking more disappointed than anything.
“That’s okay, princess,” He coos as he turns you around and presses his chest against your back. “We’ll fix that. Don’t move, or I’ll have to punish you again, princess, and you know how much I hate that.” You whimper a little but nod as he steps away. You hold yourself up, back straight and unmoving even as the raw belt marks on your ass rub into your calves. You don’t look behind you, you know better, but you can hear the soft tinkling of metal and the quiet whoosh of something being unfurled.
You’re so curious, so fucking curious about what he’s doing, but you don’t move. If you move, he’s going to spank you again, and while that is such a tempting vision - you, sprawled over his knees this time as his bare palm makes contact with that slap of skin meeting skin as he tells you just how good you are for taking your punishment, fuck, - you mostly just want him inside you, like, right now, because you can basically feel the throbbing heat between your legs and this hotel duvet has to be soaked, and also you’ve been waiting all fucking day.
The heat of Yoongi’s body returns to the space behind you and he presses a soft kiss to your neck.
“I’m gonna have to make sure my princess knows that I’m the only one for her, huh?” You whimper slightly, and you can feel his smile against your skin. “You remember your safeword, baby girl?” You nod, but Yoongi just tuts. “Gotta hear you say it, princess, you know the rules.”
“Penguin.”
“And if you can’t say it?”
“Tap you twice on the thigh.”
“Good girl,” Yoongi whispers into your ear. Your entire body shudders, legs nearly giving out, but a pressure against your neck keeps you up long enough for you to regain your balance. It takes you a second to realize what it is; a quick glance to the bed beside you confirms it. Yoongi has his belt wrapped around your neck, and based on the way it tightens around your throat while the remnants hand from the nape of your neck, he’s got it buckled in place. You stifle another moan.
“Now, princess,” Yoongi purrs, “Who do you belong to?”
“You, always you, Daddy, no one else, ever.”
“That’s fucking right,” He growls. With one hand on your back, he shoves you down until your face is buried in the blanket, the tail of his belt pulled taut and no doubt wrapped around his hand. He doesn’t even finger you first, just thrusts inside you with one move. A choked moan tears itself out of your throat, muffled by the thick blanket underneath you. “I’m the only fucking one allowed near this pussy, you hear me?”
Yoongi’s thrusts aren’t forgiving at all; he’s rough and hard, doesn’t give you any time to get used to the stretch of his dick, just shoves in and out like you’re merely a toy to be used. His free hand has a bruising grip on your hip, your fingers are clawed into the duvet, and all you can think about is how fucking perfect it feels. The burn of the stretch, the way your ass and thighs sting with every thrust, the slight pressure against your windpipe that isn’t enough to choke you but reminds you that you’re at his mercy. It’s as close to heaven as you’re ever going to get, it has to be, because it’s absolutely euphoric.
“Fuck, princess, look at how you take my cock,” Yoongi hisses. His grip tightens on the belt as he pulls, and you’re seeing stars with how utterly fantastic the lack of air is. “Fuck, you always take me so well, you know that? Like you were made for me, just me. Can’t wait to fucking mark you, want everyone to know you’re mine. You gonna be a good girl and let me mark you, princess?”
You nod as best you can, gasping when Yoongi pulls hard on the belt to bring you up against him once more. His pace is unrelenting, hitting every spot inside that he knows you love, teasing your g-spot with each thrust.
“God, you’re such a fucking slut, you know that?” His voice is strained and you wish you could see, wish you could watch him fall apart as he fucks you, but god, there is nothing like his voice in your ear, raspy and gravelly because he’s focusing so hard on the way he pistons in and out of you like a goddamn jackhammer. “So fucking wet and ready for me all the time, baby girl...you know Daddy loves this pussy better than anything else. You like it when Daddy fucks you like this, princess? Treating you like the whore you are?”
You whimper and give a slight nod, mostly focused on the brief allowances of air he gives you. With another thrust he lets go of the belt, bringing his hand up to wrap tenderly around the base of your throat. You gasp, sucking in all the air you can before he decides you don’t get any more. The pressure that’s been slowly building inside of you threatens to snap, and you barely hold it back.
“Who’s fucking pussy is this, princess? Who’s little slut are you?”
“Yours,” You gasp. “Yours, Daddy, I’m your little slut.”
“Yeah? Who you thinking about right now? You thinking about Daddy? Or are you thinking about that fucking bastard from the restaurant? You wish it was him fucking you like this?”
“No, never, please, only want you, please, Daddy, please can I cum? Didn’t even remember his name, please, please, I’m so close Daddy, I just-”
“Do it baby.” He brings his hand up ever so slightly, bracing you against his body, while the hand on your hip darts down to rub circles into your clit. “C’mon, princess, you’re so good for me, go ahead, cream on Daddy’s cock. Wanna feel you around me.” It takes seconds, the combination of him thrusting so deep inside that you can feel it on your fucking cervix with the way he rubs your clit, along with the words he’s growling into your ear, it’s god damn magic, and you’re spasming around him in seconds, vision going white as your body goes limp.
When you come to, you’re on your back on the bed, Yoongi between your legs and thrusting desperately into you. You whimper a little, the oversensitivity is always strong right after you cum. He shushes you softly, one hand moving to stroke your hair gently.
“That’s it baby, you take me so well. Fuck, just love watching my cock disappear inside you, could watch that forever. God damn, princess, you are so good, such a good girl, you know that? Can’t wait to marry you, gonna fuck you like this forever, make sure every-fucking-body knows you’re mine.” Your breath catches in your throat, even in your fucked-out haze you know what he just said, but what-
“Fuck, that’s it, take it, princess, take my cum,” Yoongi’s panting on top of you as he comes, thick ropes coating your walls. You’re both breathless as he carefully removes the belt from around your neck, gentle and soft, before he collapses beside you with a huff.
“Yoongi?” You say after a minute, still mostly breathless. He makes a small noise of acknowledgement, enough that you know he isn’t asleep yet. “Did you just...did you just propose to me in the middle of jealousy sex?”
“What? No, I didn’t-” He stops. “Fuck.”
HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND? (3/5)
“Taeyong hyung.. can you find me a promoter? I need a new bike. The old one is starting to not cooperate.” I said one afternoon.
It’s only the two of us in my apartment. I call him over to talk about this. He is my manager after all.
“Hmm.. you need a new bike? Can’t we modify or fix the old one?”
I bite my lips.. well we can.. but I want a new bike.
“I’ll work on it… be patient okay. I’ll tell you when I found one.” Taeyong pats my back and glances to my table.
“Didn’t know you smoked Pall Mall.. I’ve always thought you liked Eve.” Taeyong naturally grabs a bar and lights it up.
My eyes widens. Hey that’s not mine. Shit it must be Kai’s. He left it here..
“Oh that’s not mine. Bring it with you.. it’s too strong for me. Maybe my friend left it accidentally.”
“Woah great. Thanks to whoever left it here. Why would someone leave a good cigarette.”
“You take the cigarette… and don’t forget to find me a new promotor.”
“Done princess.”
--
My study meet ups with Sehun  still happen regularly and after that Kai will be in my apartment cleaning my mess and be my chat buddy. Got to say Kai is an amazing listener and advisor. It is easier to talk with Kai than with Sehun. Sehun is a from a noble family, sometimes I feel not in the right place to speak with him.. or even be with him.
Sehun never returns to the hellish place. He doesn’t come and see me race. Instead we meet elsewhere like the library, café , or Jaehyun’s apartment.
And that is the reason why Sehun doesn’t know what happens with the racing team. Apparently Kai told his group about Taeyong, and their manager Kris appears to like the way Taeyong works. He offers him a deal to join forces and with the huge amount of money they can win when putting Kai (y/n) and Yuta in one group, Taeyong signed the deal. Now the Aces are in one team, and that made it easier for us to win every night. We made schedules Kai and I will least likely meet each other.. when we do, whoever wins.. the team will still earn something right? And that’s how unknowingly.. we fall into the demons trap.
One night Sehun secretly comes to the race and he is more than surprised to see his friends hanging out with EXO. Not that he has the right to ban them befriend EXO, it’s just that.. Sehun can’t blend in comfortably with them. That night he keeps himself under cover. He actually wanted to place a big bet on (y/n), but Sehun is a smart and quick man. He knows his money will eventually goes into Kai’s pocket too.. and he doesn’t like that.
His last patient burst when (y/n) passes the finish line with lots of bruises and Kai welcomes her to a warm hug. Sehun wonders why Jaehyun hasn’t thrown his punches yet… but who is he to judge.
Sehun goes back home with a heavy feeling in his heart. Why must Kai interferes with his life again. Why Kai out of all people. And why (y/n).
Luhan knows every updates about Sehun from his spies. Luhan knows Sehun is secretly interested in that low class wild racer. Luhan knows Sehun always leave to learn in the library.. just to meet her. And Luhan knows how Kai is playing along with her. In order to keep his brother from falling too deep in love, and to keep their dignity… Luhan needs to find  a way to separate the two of them. Kai doesn’t seem to succeed. He’s clearly interested to the point of friends. Luhan sees no lust between them. Kai really sees her as a sister. While Sehun.. Luhan knows Sehun is in love.
“Yes appa? Is the deal going smooth?” Luhan talks over the phone alone in the balcony.
“Great! I can’t wait to inform her. I know.. thanks appa! You’re the best!” Luhan cuts the call off.
He checks his email and feels on cloud 9 when he finds the mail he’s been waiting for.
Meticulously Luhan sends the email to Taeyong and (y/n). Inside is a small present for (y/n). Luhan pretends he is a scouter for young racers to be trained and compete professionally. He lies that he happens to watch her perfect performance and he is interested to offer her a full scholarship to the known racing school.
Upon receiving the email… (y/n) could not be more delighted! She practically made her own decision that she will say yes. And Taeyong cannot hold her back he will have to look for another racer. Jaehyun is happy that she is finally reaching her dream. She mindlessly replies the email agreeing to attend the class as soon as possible.
That Thursday afternoon (y/n) has her usual meet up with Sehun in the library. Sehun is less chatty than usual. Ever since he saw Kai and (y/n) close to each other.. he is keeping his mouth close most of the time.
“What are we learning today?” Sehun asks after sitting down across her.
She pulls out a folded paper and without a word shows it to Sehun. Sehun grabs the letter and reads it carefully. His brow frowns and his face stiffens when he reach the last page.
“what is this?” Sehun asks keeping his emotion down.
“Don’t you read it? It’s an offer for me to attend the racing school of my dream!”
“What? You sure this isn’t a scam?”
“Definitely! I sent them my agreement and they explain me that someone is funding my tuition. I have a promoter!”
“What’s the name of the promoter?” Sehun rechecks the paper.
She points to a name and Sehun’s face goes white..
There it’s clearly stamped his father’s company. He re reads the paper and after reading it three times. His mind goes blank. It’s written there (y/n) is under full scholarship from his father’s company to attend the prominent riding school.
Sehun knows this must be his family’s dirty ways of making Sehun away from her. How can he know? Well first none of their family watches or knows a racer from the wild racing thing… second.. they are usually not this generous.. third.. they don’t even know (y/n). Only Luhan knows.. and damn Luhan.. he did not expect his brother to be such a cockblock. Luhan has always been supportive and this is for the first time Sehun feels disappointed.
“Sehun??” I wave my hand in front of his blank face. I snap my finger and he goes back to his consciousness.
“ah! Sorry I got lost.. I still think this is a scam.” Sehun holds the paper tightly, he low-key wants to burn it here.
“No Sehun! Taeyong and I checked the company’s name and it’s verified. Like it or not I’m leaving! Oh come on it’s still in the same country. Just different region.. you are always welcome to come and see me!” I pack my belongings and stand up from my chair.
“Come on let’s go.. I need to smoke..” I pull Sehun’s hand and he reluctantly follows my steps.
We got to the park near the public library and I light a bar there, sticking it between my lips as I put the lighters on.
I inhale a huff and lets out a puff “Why Sehun? You don’t seem happy? Isn’t this a nice opportunity for me? This is my dream!” I tap on my cigarette as I wait for Sehun to reply.
He looks really different. Since he saw the letter he seems annoyed and mad.
“i.. I can’t explain what’s in my mind… of course I’m happy you can finally reach your dream.. but..”
“But what Sehun? Tell me..”
“It’s just that.. I might not be able to see you anymore..”
“what do you mean? You can join the others when they see me for the race. Or meet me around the area.”
“No. It’s not that simple. I can’t bring myself to that place again (y/n)..”
“Why? Just because you don’t like wild racing?? Fine. We can still see each other outside that place.” I try to see the bright side. Hey there’s so many place in the world. Why is he so confused.
“No it’s not like that.. fine let me be honest. I am not allowed to meet you frequently. And it’s not because of Jaehyun.” Sehun closes his eyes.
“I’m sorry.. I should have never met you in first place.”
“What are you talking about Sehun?” I bite my stick between my lips. Totally confused and not understanding a single thing about Sehun. Why is he lately so secretive and quiet. He doesn’t act like the same Sehun I met at day one! No. He’s totally off.
“Today’s not the right time to tell. Just put in mind I never wanted this to happen.” Sehun looks into the distance, he freezes when he sees someone (I don’t know who.. he looks far away over my shoulder) and suddenly he taps my shoulder and say goodbye.
I finish my cigarette and turn it down while looking confused as hell
“the fuck Sehun? Was he on his right mind? I don’t understand a single thing.”
